My first impression is that this is a very good book for beginners of the Tarot. Some have critizised its simplicity and bountiful images, but for someone coming into Tarot fresh, it is already a lot to take in. Once you start reading other works, you'll find that there are similar and varied interpretations to these, so each version best not be too breathless and extensive; there is so much more out there to peruse. I will say that, for a male reader, this book makes you feel like an intruder or an outsider. Although the author takes great lengths to express the importance of bringing a modern non-conformist view of gender identity to the forefront, the work itself is explicitly gynocentric and leaves no room at all for the male perspective or experience.
