Hollywood racks started in 1973 when we began making trunk-mounted racks in the back of our bike shop in Hollywood, California. Our Aim was simple: we wanted to make good quality products that were easy to use and came fully assembled. We earned a great reputation fast and soon began selling our racks to other bike shops throughout California. By the late '70s, we began selling our racks to bicycle companies such as Schwinn, Peugeot and Nashik. In 1981, we closed the bike shop and opened a small factory in loss angels, CA to exclusively make car racks, then relocated to a larger facility in 1988. In 1989, we began exporting our products to Europe, and in the 1990's we expanded our line to include racks for trailer hitches, pickup trucks and spare tires. We have since relocated our offices, R and d and us warehouse to our present facility in the loss angels area with manufacturing in Taiwan. Our products are available in all 50 States and in over 25 countries worldwide.

As long as you follow the instructions the build is pretty straight forward (I also watched a couple of videos). It is heavy, but that's a good thing, as it is well built and translates to being very stable when installed on the SUV. Have used both the 2 bike and 4 bike configurations and really like the ease of use. Tool-less mounting is great, flexibility to angle away from hatch is AWESOME! Don't even need to take the bikes off the rack when I want to open the hatch.
It does take a bit of time to learn how to use and fit the bikes properly, but once you do it a few times you are good to go. Highly recommend if you need the 4 bike option.
Only issue was my daughters cruiser bike will not clamp down. Unfortunately the tubes on her bike are oval so adding a tube crossbar adapter is not possible so we resort to bungee cords for her bike. This would be an issue for any rack and her bike...

rock solid, no wobbles. easy to adjust. lockable. tiltable - what more do you want?
took 2 adults bikes and 2 kid bikes on a long trip. bit of adjusting for the kids bikes to fit but once on there they were fine.
had one moment pulling out of a gas station and the driveway was really steep. thought id struggle to clear the back but the bike platform clearance at the back was more than enough.
Tilting is a bit heavy with 4 bikes loaded and i needed 2 people to do it. one to take the weight off the platform and the other to pull the pins at the front.
Likes: - good ground clearance
-fit 2 kids bikes (including a todler bike with training wheels)
-twisting lever to tighten connections on hitch so theres no wobble
dislikes: - heavy
whole unit weighs about 40kgs and is pretty large to store, but i dont see any way around that. just an FYI

Long story short - this is an amazing rack. There is a Youtube video on the Amazon site that does a good job of showing how to put it together (as the instructions that were sent with this are simply not that good). It took me maybe 35 minutes to have it fully operational and on my vehicle.
This is what I really liked about it:
1) Very sturdy and adjustments available make it so that the bike rack doesn't sway or jiggle at all. If it does - then you are not doing it correctly.
2) The PINS in the rack are all attached to the rack by little strings (so you don't lose anything) AND you know exactly where PINS should go.
3) Easy to load four bikes in less than 4 minutes.
Want I didn't like ....
1) Adjusting the sliding cradles is a little difficult, but once you have them set for your four bikes - then all is good.
2) Unloading and loading requires you to take off the sliding hooks - but not a major deal.
Anyway - save $500 to $600 and buy this over higher end products.

Plastic material appears cheap and not sure how long it can withstand uv sun rays. Velcro wheel straps are short and barely fit regular thickness wheels. Won't be long enough for thicker wheels, especially if wheels cannot fit into very bottom of wheel loops (at times, incompatible neighboring bikes will prevent perfect fitting all the way into wheel loop bottoms). Short velcro strap can't cling to itself with enough "gripping" length, so it does not seem very secure for multiple road speed bumps or potholes on long trips when top hook can't fit bike frame secure enough on its own.
Wheel loop rack is better at loading bikes than "hanging" type racks by maybe 20%-40%...but paying around 200% to 400% or more.....not a good value.
Some NEEDED improvements for this rack:
1-For handlebar interference during loading, these are options
A-If the hook swings sideways out of the way and swings back quickly
B-If vertical center bars are tiltable 90 degrees toward rear of tow vehicle (instead of the way they tilt now)
2-Ease of loading without breaking person's back options
A-Use continuous ramp instead of two separate wheel loops. Continuous ramp allows front wheel to be placed first, pushing bike along, then lifting rear tire later. This relieves approx 50% weight off the person's back, and no far reach lifting needed.
B-Allow wheel loops to tilt up so person can load bike while standing near center and not at far ends of rack
3-Securing wheels
-Use longer velcro straps to allow better "teeth" grab length
4-Tilt feature has DANGEROUS design flaw which can seriously injure adults... or possibly even kill small kids if they touch or are even just nearby when rack is loaded. Rack will suddenly slip out from the spring-loaded auto push-in pin, tilting, and sending the heavily loaded rack onto adult legs or even worst catch adult knees at certain angles and put all that weight onto knees and/or legs. I don't even want to describe the situation of it abruptly crashing down onto small kids with the weight of four bikes along with a very heavy steel rack. There is no warning before it crashes. The safety pin that the company PERCEIVES to eliminate this problem ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT protect in this sudden circumstance...as the rack could crash down on you as you are trying to install/uninstall the pin. No user out there would ever suspect this would happen. If this were a car, there would probably be a recall already. This is not a freak accident possibility but a design flaw and its occurrence is not uncommon....happening multiple times to me, and also happening to other rack owners as well. I made sure the auto pin was fully engaged and it still happened. I hope the company heads my warning and redesigns this function to prevent lawsuits....better yet to prevent injury/death.
