Solid Rack
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 10, 2016Verified Purchase
Rack is sturdy & holds bikes securely. You can fit 5 bikes as intended but it will take time to figure out the proper placement. I am carrying two adult and three kids bikes without issue.
It's worth noting the fifth bike will go on the car side of the rack spine, which isn't a big deal but restricts the glass from opening all the way on the car unless you tilt the rack. Speaking of tilting, it's easy but can be difficult with more than three bikes due to weight shift and access to the rack for hand placement. Also worth noting this rack offers the most hitch to rack clearance distance than similarly priced models giving you more space to for the fifth bike.
The only negative would be how the pin hole is configured but that can be overcome. The rack is designed to be secured to the hitch with a bolt to reduce movement but that's not secure from theft. The optional locking bolt sold by the manufacturer is overpriced. To get the rack to accept a standard locking pin I drilled the hole with a 5/8" bit to remove the screw threads, which worked perfectly.
The other item that reduces options for placement of oddly shaped frames is the anti-sway rubber mounts, which are much larger than the standard ones. I don't view this as a negative since it securely holds the adult bikes but it's worth consideration for kids bikes.
All and all I'm pleased with the purchase.

Great for the family trips.
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 30, 2013Verified Purchase
I bought this because my buddy had it for his family of five. It's the only one I could find that was not costing an arm and a leg to hold five bikes. It fits all of the bikes with no problem but you'll have to get the adapters for full suspension bikes and be creative with the kids bike or small-framed sizes. It is easy to assemble and mount onto the hitch, took about 30 minutes to assemble and hookup. It stores easily when not in use too. The rubber cradles are great for not scratching the paint jobs and with the third latch it limits how much the bikes will sway around rubbing against each other.
I would recommend this for all growing families or those who are planning a guy's (or gal's) trip to the trails.

Great 5 bike rack

Actually holds 5 bikes, it does take a little effort to get all the bikes loaded, I have only loaded 5 bikes with 4 adult and a kid bike but it looks like I could get 5 adult bikes.

Great rack

Great rack. 5 full sized bikes is probably pushing it to the limits though. I use it for 2 adult mountain bikes, 1 youth beach cruiser, 1 youth bmx style bike, & a toddler balance bike and it is a super tight fit. Had a minor issue with hardware and the customer service was quick with a resolution. Would definitely buy it again

Solid and strong. Good price. Accommodates all 5 of our mountain bikes.
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 12, 2015Verified Purchase
Had this for 2 years now, and I can say it is a solid performer. During the spring, summer, and fall, we are biking as often as 5 days a week; so this thing sees a lot of use. We are a family of 5 and we have no problem fitting 5 mountain bikes on it. They range from a 14 inch frame up to a 23 inch frame, and they fit fine. We have had to touch up the paint this year, but other than that, it is still going strong.
I add a little grease every now and then to the screws and moving parts. Every few months, I make sure the bolts are still sufficiently tight. We have driven long road trips (Knoxville, TN to Siesta Key, FL) with no problems. We have driven down rutty, bumpy dirt roads (Big South Fork and other areas), again with no problems. Are there more rugged racks out there? Yes, but you will pay a higher price for them. This has met our needs just fine.
The brackets holding the bikes do a good job of stabilizing and protecting. The can also be rotated and slid back and forth to adjust to the the fit and size of the bikes.
