About the authors
JEAN REAGAN was born in Alabama but spent most of her childhood in Japan. She now lives in Salt Lake City with her husband. In the summers, they serve as backcountry volunteers in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
At seven years of age. It was at a chess competition many moons ago, I did not excel at chess but there was an art competition too. I entered a rather odd funny looking Loch Ness monster and it won first prize!
Obviously I have moved on a little since then with a OND, HND and BA(hons) all in the arts. As soon as I left University I Started as a graphic designer for a advertising agency, learning the ins and outs of graphics and corporate literature then moved to a printers as studio manager.
Then moved to a newspaper as studio manager where the team designed large corporate events marketing and running visual campaigns to promote the newspapers and magazines.
Moving on from the hectic world of newspapers. I moved to a greeting card company as a product development manager where I created concepts and illustrations for the greeting card market and this is when I found my love of illustration again and went freelance into children’s books and illustration.
I thoroughly enjoy illustrating Children’s books. I find them funny and you can add slight adult humor too, this hopefully appeals to the adult purchaser. There is nothing more warming than seeing people enjoying and laughing at a published book that you have illustrated.
Nature and people are the biggest influence in my work and try to get as much character and expression into each piece of work as possible. Characters are the main subject of my work as I believe these can make and break a project. I have been fortunate to win a few awards and have been shortlisted for a few as well.
