When the boy is trying to capture the monster, the book describes how the monster becomes scared, "AND RIPS A MASSIVE F*RT!" Yes, it actually has that word in the book in huge letters, with these five quoted words taking up an entire page. I try to keep my son from using words like those at home in order to keep him from using those kind of words away from home. Thank goodness I read the book first before I read it to him.
In my opinion, this book would be good for a teenager, NOT for the recommended "Age Range: 4 - 8 years, Grade Level: 1 - 3" in amazon's product description. Your mileage may vary, and that's fine, but I wish a review had existed to warn me before I bought this book.
This is probably an unpopular opinion however, I grew up with brothers, I have 2 step sons, and my son... I am not new to fart humor and how hilarious people (especially boys) find it. There is a page in this book that talks about the monster farting. My son laughed so hard at that page and seeing how much he enjoyed the book in its entirety made me so happy that I bought it.
