Parents, educators, therapists, and social workers alike have declared The Invisible String the perfect tool for coping with all kinds of separation anxiety, loss, and grief. In this relatable and reassuring contemporary classic, a mother tells her two children that they're all connected by an invisible string. "That's impossible!" the children insist, but still they want to know more: "What kind of string?" The answer is the simple truth that binds us all: An Invisible String made of love. Even though you can't see it with your eyes, you can feel it deep in your heart, and know that you are always connected to the ones you love. Does everybody have an Invisible String? How far does it reach? Does it ever go away? This heartwarming picture book for all ages explores questions about the intangible yet unbreakable connections between us, and opens up deeper conversations about love.
Recommended and adopted by parenting blogs, bereavement support groups, hospice centers, foster care and social service agencies, military library services, church groups, and educators, The Invisible String offers a very simple approach to overcoming loneliness, separation, or loss with an imaginative twist that children easily understand and embrace, and delivers a particularly compelling message in today's uncertain times. This special paperback edition includes vibrant new illustrations and an introduction from the author.
"This book is a beautiful way to begin to try, as parents, to instill in children the impenetrable power of the heart, the energy of love, and the flow that can be felt from the grace in every moment." --Tony Robbins

Review
"Delivers a particularly compelling message in today's uncertain times that though we may be separated from the ones we care for, love is the unending connection that binds us all."―The American Academy of Pediatrics
"Children of all ages (and yes, adults too!) feel a great sense of peace and joy realizing that we are all connected to the ones we love through The Invisible String."―The National Association of School Psychologists
"A wonderful storybook for children experiencing separation anxiety."―Today's Parent
"The Invisible String is part of my social skills/feelings book purchases.... Beautiful. Delicate. Perfect for: dealing with loss, moving, friendship issues, family problems, nighttime fears.... Quite the special book."―The Styling Librarian
"The message of The Invisible String resonates with children and adults alike.... The two ends of the treasured Invisible String are families and schools. This String, reinforced on each side, buoys students with love, guidance, direction. But when one end weakens, the entire String falters.... When we need support, reassurance, or simply a kindred spirit, just give the String a tug and someone will tug back. This is powerful, and will keep your child on track through...his or her education journey."―Carmen Fariña, Chancellor, NYC Department of Education
"[Promotes] a vision of global unity and empathy...effective."
―Kirkus
"Whether kids are having separation anxiety or dealing with divorce or even death, this sweet story is very reassuring."
―Motherly

About the authors
Patrice Karst is the author of the bestselling, contemporary classic children’s (and adults’!) book The Invisible String, which has sold over 1 million copies and been translated into fifteen languages. It is the story of the String (made out of love!) that connects us all.
The Invisible String book series offers children a tangible understanding of love and teaches the world about the String that “even though you can’t see it with your eyes, you can feel it in your heart and know that you are always connected to everyone you love.”
In addition to being shared by all ages as a gift for many of life’s milestone moments, it is also being used by schools, psychologists, hospices, grief groups, the military, hospitals, prison systems and countless organizations worldwide for any kind of loss or separation issues.
A leading title for healing, comfort, celebrations, bereavement and counseling of children and their families since its original publication in 2000, The Invisible String continues to soar because of its timeless message.
Patrice has been on a lifelong mission to share the message that this energy called love transcends time and space and is the most powerful force in all the universe.
Patrice has also written The Invisible Leash: An Invisible String Story Celebrating Love After the Loss of a Pet, The Invisible String Workbook: Creative Activities to Comfort, Calm and Connect, a therapeutic activity book co-written with Dana Wyss, Ph.D., The Invisible Web: An Invisible String Story Celebrating Love and Our Universal Connection, You Are Never Alone: An Invisible String Lullaby and The Smile that Went Around the World.
Due out in 2023 are The Invisible String Backpack (July) and Ruby and Lonely (September).
Born in London, England, Patrice moved to the United States as a child, where she spent many a night pondering the meaning of life under the canopy of stars, and has been on a fascinating creative and spiritual journey ever since.
The single mother of Elijah (now grown) lives near the beach in Ventura, California, where she is currently writing her memoir (and what a wild ride it has been!), working on more stories, and still gazing up in wonder at starry nights.

Joanne is the award-winning illustrator of such books as Beautiful, Brave, Love and Hilde Cracks the Case series, Another Day as Emily and The Dancing Pancake by Eileen Spinelli and Peace, Baby! by Linda Ashman. She lives in Amsterdam with her family.
Now we are done with all the formality, let's get to the good stuff. I was born in Malaysia but grew up in Los Angeles. I've had all kinds of adventures, good, bad and the crazy and it had a big influence in my art since I was a very young kid. I love traveling and going to new places. Luckily I have a family who loves it just as much as I do. I am terrible at cooking but I love to eat and luckily my husband is a great cook. Photography, hiking in the mountains and being in nature are my favorite things to do. .
My favorite mediums are pen and pencil. I don't like using sketch books because it makes me feel confined to a space. Which also means, my house is full of loose sketches everywhere. I mean everywhere. My children are my greatest pride . Usually I don't talk this much because I'm an introvert but I think it's okay to share just a little bit of myself with the moms, dads and kids out there.

I bought it to read with a 5 year old child at my child care centre to support him after the sudden loss of his grandfather. He really enjoys the story!
I bought book to help toddler begin to learn idea of love connecting us all, in preparation of a pending death of a family member. Ended up bringing the paperback version to the Celebration of Life for our departed family member, which brought smiles to attendees.
Book would be helpful for any separation anxiety or distances. Like help for returning to work/daycare, or caregiver absence while travelling without family, or a dear friend moving away, etc. Maintains concept we are all connected by love, regardless of circumstance. A nice re-enforcement that the child is never truly alone. <3 None of us are ever truly alone so long as we feel love and loved <3

Was expecting better given the reviews. Also not ideal if you follow gentle parenting ideas as she tells the twins to go back to bed even though they're scared.

We were recommended this book by his teacher and it has really helped. We took our time reading through this book with him and it allowed him to see separation in a different way. Obviously it wasn't just this book, we had help from school also but he gradually overcome this worry and if he ever starts to worry we remind him about the heart strings and that puts him at ease.
Even though this book is American, I think that's irrelevant as it's the substance that counts and this book has helped our child overcome separation issues, does it really matter which country it's from just as long as it works?
Highly recommended.
