Contains: Motorcycle club member, construction guy, a heavy shell around his personnality, a lot of secret and grief/cancer.

I wanted to give it a 4 stars but at 70% Joker brokes my heart with all his declaration. In this book, we discover a grief who took a long shot on our main caracter. We found each mechanism of defense he use to clear people away from his real problem. We fell in love with his teens friends, we love those who are there for him and we also hate the fact that some cant fr*gging understand him. We pass thru a whole set of emotions for finally get our hearts twisted by the despair and the inconsolable grief and its repercussion that have been added to the character.

Joker just wanted a family that would be there to support him and never leave him behind. He wants to be accepted. But he is so afraid to be himself, he doesn't know who he is, that he has put a shell around his personality to hide his true emotions. 

Brennan is attracted to Joker. He never has a chance at his heart and he doesn't know if he should trust his heart this time. But Joker will surprise him more than once.

Read this book. Watch two caracters spend a lot of time to discover love. One will have to pierce an armor. The other will have to let his armor fall off. Both will have much to gain, but it all has to start with trust.

This is a series that I keep coming back to because it’s just so well written. Initially I had thought I would dislike this book most, as Joker has been a bit annoying in previous books, but I found his story to be my favourite of the series. Very well done

Aiden Bates and Ali Lyda have struck gold with Hell's Ankhor Series, and Book 8, "Joker", in my opinion, is the best book in the series so far!! I have slowly fallen in love with the men in Hell's Ankhor Crew, now that the Junee and Elkin Lake MC Chapters have merged, but I was not really prepared for hie much Joker's story was going to hit me. Joker has wormed his way into my heart, along with MC club friend, Brennan, who falls head over heels fir the surly, misunderstood, kind-hearted biker. Joker's evolution in this book truly warmed my heart, and when we learn his story and all about his deceased younger brother, Parker, I could barely read my Kindle app my phone as the tears streaked down my face and dripped all over my phone. Thanks you for inspiring me to do better in my own life, because that's what this book did for me. I was shocked at my visceral reaction to the unveiling of Joker's trauma. Apparently,I still have triggers from my own traumas growing up that I thought long healed. Boy, was I wrong. I can't recommend this book enough. It was truly cathartic for this middle aged gay man. Bless you for this series Aiden and Lyda.

Emotional and entertaining

Joker can be highly annoying but we soon learn that the way he acts is a cover for his insecurities, his secrets, and his huge but broken heart. Brennan also has a huge heart, he is also a patient man who is willing to slowly peel back the layers to find the real Joker. Both men have a seriously good core and fit together really well, their passion is steamy and the more they get to know each other, the deeper their connection becomes until love and HEA are guaranteed.
This story has an unexpected depth and you may need a tissue to get through it.

Great book in Great Series

This series is an automatic click for me to read. I keep worrying that this will be the last book but then another one comes out. I don’t read a lot of biker books as it’s not a genre that I usually enjoy but this series is so great to read and I just love the men of this group and reading about their various relationships. I could honestly see this problem that Joker has being one that would come about in his circumstances and that he would be very unlikely to let people know about it even with all the trouble it causes. I loved seeing him thaw and change as he got closer to Brennan. Such a fun and sexy read.

I'm in the minority here but this didn't work for me. IMO the others need to be read first to enjoy this and it doesn't work as a standalone. Too many side characters and I did not like Jokers character at all the first half. Like I say maybe if you got to know him in the other books u might feel differently but I haven't read any of the previous books and I couldn't stand him the first half. He was so rude and a total jerk. I just didn't get the appeal at all. I'm all for characters that are standofish and insecure that need to coaxed out but not when they are that abrasive to the point where u question what the other MC sees in them. I will say though that when he opened up I did feel bad for him and liked him alot more the last 40% but it took alot of effort just to get to that point.

The narrator did a great job though with the 2 different voices and accent. Showing the emotions and keeping a good pace. Made it easier to listen to a story that I otherwise would have marked DNF had I read it.

Loved this book! Joker and Brennan are like oil and fire. Never quite on the same page. But Joker holds his cards close and won’t show any sort of weakness. He has so many demons he needs Brennan to fight them. This book was so much fun to read I love all these men in Hell’s Ankhor.

Joker had been a part of the Hell's Ankhor MC for four years and has noticed Brennan since his contracting company did the work at the Bakery after the fire, but he keeps sniping and has issues when attention is directed at him. Brennan is drawn to Joker but as his best friend Dawson keeps pointing out...he has a habit of picking 'fixer uppers!' Brennan thinks Joker is struggling with something but doesn't know what it is or what to do about the attraction they seem to have for each other!
Fantastic 8th book in an ongoing series, best read in order to fully appreciate the characters but well worth taking the time to read them!

His want to just be accepted had me in tears numerous times throughout the book. It was so beautifully written. And I could kiss Brennan for bringing Joker out of his shell and showing him so lovingly that he was worth the world

I've been following joker from the beginning , as he seemed to captivate without being overtly there.
So glad I read this book , the chemistry with joker and brennan is HOT! The storyline is great and i love how his relationship progresses with everyone.
