ADD: A more recent problem is the disc suddenly freezing, with the "pause" symbol showing in the upper right corner as if I had pressed pause but I didn't. I have to unplug the unit and turn it back on.
Very, very basic features. It plays the discs and that's it. Sometimes, it does nothing when you press enter or play so you have to eject the disc and try again. If you want to finish the show later, sometimes, it starts where you left off, other times, it loads the disc from the beginning.
This is the most annoying thing about it. In the options menu, there is a picture adjust that automatically resets to default, Standard, which is annoying as I have to change it to Movie every single time. In Standard mode, the picture is washed out so instead of changing all the settings on my TV, I just do this quick switch to Movie mode. My old Sony DVD player had more/better features, such as zoom, and being able to reverse very slowly (like one frame at a time), and still being able to hear the audio at 2X fast forward (even thought the sound was a bit choppy). You can go forward very slowly. When you shut it off, prepare for a blinding bright light, as your whole TV screen is bleached out and for me, this is painful as I have sensitive eyes. When you click on the menu button, the bar that appears at the bottom of the screen has a black background that covers the bottom third of the screen. When it comes time to buy a new Blu-ray player, I'll try a different brand. The brightness of the blank screen when it's turned off and the brightness of the main menu (half white, half purple with icons) is really bothersome for me.
