Being Waterproof It is a Great Mascara. Make sure it is the Waterproof Voluminous. as some Voluminous are not waterproof. L'Oréal's Waterproof Voluminous {I use Black/Brown} is the best Mascara I have found. I have tried many brands, and this does Not run {if you cry or your eyes run}. It is a reasonably priced mascara, that is for sure.

I have green eyes, of the olive yellowish variety. All my life I've been taught that I have to wear various shades of purple, avoid any other colors and must, must, must only wear black mascara. I have been taught wrong. I recently discovered that reddish coppers, burgundy's and deep dirty pinks do far more for my green eyes and my complexion than any shade of purple or Plum I have ever worn. This mascara, the color is absolutely beautiful. Don't be afraid that it would be too red or the red would bring out the red in your eyes, because the opposite is true. The burgundy actually brightens the whites in your eyes. And it doesn't appear like a red mascara, but more like a warmed Brown. And being voluminous it goes on fabulously. I wear it over a primer and I absolutely love putting on my eye makeup now whereas I absolutely loved it before. I highly recommend the burgundy for green or Hazel eyed people. I also have the green which I quite like and again is more subtle than you would think. Color isn't the first thing you notice and you never want your makeup to be the first thing you notice, you want your eyes to be noticed. I did get the blue also and it is a bit bright for my taste, but if bright electric blue is your taste it goes on great and it definitely does punch up my eye color. I'll be honest, I just don't have the guts. But I have been stalking up on the burgundy and the green.

Here's why I like it:
1) It applies easily--especially if you're not trying to photograph your eyeball at the same time.
2) It goes on smoothly.
3) Add some mascara after it dries, and you've pretty much doubled the volume of your eyelashes. Boom!

At forty-something, I have used dozens of brands of mascara. ...From Mary Kay to Cover Girl. I have naturally long lashes, but I am blonde and fair. I need mascara to make my lashes pop. And, I swear this actually adds length onto your lashes. I refuse to get on the fake eyelash bandwagon. Frankly, it sounds like a pain. I don’t think I need them. At least, not with L’Orėal Voluminous Original Mascara.

I rediscovered this mascara a couple years ago. I had worn it as a young adult and somehow lost track of the brand. Never again! I get compliments when I wear it. I even get asked if my lashes are my own.

Criticisms? Sometimes it can come out of the bottle a little gloppy. I just keep a roll of paper towels in the bathroom. When it does look gloppy, I brush it lightly on the paper towel first to take off excess. Simple as that. Otherwise it goes on beautifully. The only other issue is this mascara is a booger to get off. A simple facial wipe may not do the trick without rubbing at your eyes too vigorously. Take it from someone my age, you don’t want to rub at your eyes. That’s how you end up with baggy eyelids and under eyes. Make sure you have eye remover makeup (I use either a cream based one or an organic liquid I found) with your facial tissues (I use Amazon’s Vitamin C wipes and love them). Just remember to take care of your skin after you take off your makeup. Put that moisturizer and under eye cream on before bed. If you do that and stay out of the sun without sunscreen, your face will thank you as you age. And, you will look even better with this mascara for years to come! I’d recommend this product. An added bonus is it’s so reasonable on Amazon.

For the price I thought it might be a good primer. However it's average at best.
I'm trying to find a replacement for the maybelline one they have discontinued. This one isn't the one for definite.
It gives a bit of length but no volume to speak of. It also sticks my lashes together somewhat. However just about every mascara or primer does that to my lashes. It's not the worst one for it.
All in all the Avon one is on a par with this, & cheaper.
I might buy again if I can't find better for volume that gives me more than 5 clumps of lashes

When you're of a certain vintage, eyelashes and brows seem to thin out at an alarming rate. So for years now I have used a mascara primer as it helps to make my eyelashes look longer and thicker. This primer is excellent. It goes on easily just like mascara, only it's white, but dries clear and gives my eyelashes that extra oomph. I use it with L'Oreal's Voluminous mascara and they both work together brilliantly. Will definitely buy this again.
