To the other reviewers , these leads are not for everyday use, they are show leads for dog shows where the dogs only wear them for 2 minutes at a time. The advertisement states - real leather leash. The slip lead I received is not leather. It is a brown nylon cord. The only leather was on the small part holding the rivets. It does get caught in long fur. However I decided to keep it because it is very light for a small dog, but the information needs to be changed to brown nylon cord if this is the current material used.

Needed a little leash for our new pup and thought this would be great. However, its not actually leather(main reason for the low overall rating). Its the perfect side, adjusts easily, but I am pretty disappointed about it not being leather.

It also shows pictures of 2 stoppers on the leash, but it only came with one. Decided to keep because we needed a leash, but wouldnt buy again because of the experience. Decent leash though.

Slip leahses are often used as a tool to help with training loose leash walking and stopping leash pulling. That was the purpose for me purchasing this leash. When I received it, I was first taken aback by how thin the leather actually was, but nonetheless, some strong tugs on it showed that it was durable enough. I had been using it for about a week and the first few things I noticed was since it was so thin, it easily got twisted. It also took some effort to adjust, since the leather tab did not slide easily. These minor annoyances are not the reason I am giving this a one-star review. The actual reason is that it is completely unsafe and almost killed my dog. The problem is the cheap metal ring, the sole purpose of which is to keep the leash secure around the dog's neck. Well, it utterly failed in this department. My dog's behavioural issue is lunging at cars. One time after about a week of use of this leash, my dog lunged unexpectedly. The metal ring just broke and snapped right off hurtling my dog in the path of a moving car. Luckily I was far enough away from the car, and my reflexes kicked in and I was able to grab him before any disaster occured. My dog is only 25lbs, we are not talking about a 150lb beast here. This is completely unacceptable. I inspected the metal ring afterwards. It is the worst piece of garbage I have ever seen. It was so malleable i could pull it apart with zero effort. Now that the metal ring is gone, all I am left with is a useless leather string. Never again.

Pay attention to the size which they have provided is .6 cm width so this is not substantial you can’t use it with a dog that pulls moderately or is over 15 pounds at least in my opinion. It works for me because my dog doesn’t pull and a leash is more of a necessary evil for my dogs. I got this because it’s super light and scrunches up in my pocket. Think of a leather shoe lace but yet just a slight bit stronger. Other than the pictures making it look strong and some of the reviews being for other types of leashes they aren’t false advertising just don’t expect something strong.

My well trained, grand champion needed a new show lead, and this was perfect. Quality is nice, but its certainly not enough to contain/restrain a large dog who isn't under control already. Perfect for show, not ideal for a real leash for any dog over 10 pounds

Terrible- first one tore into two pieces in less then three days ... returned/replaces and the second one lasted less then one day. It was purchased for a less than 10 pound morkie. The pup pulled and it tore the second one into two pieces. Waste of money.

While the leather dog leash is well suited for everyday use, we just found out that in formal Dog Show competition, a more delicate and less obvious leash is the most appropriate. We were given a proper dog show leash to replace the sturdy leather one from Amazon and was able to win 2 of the 4 competitions in the Chihuahua class. The two second place wins may have been averted had we not used the heavy leather leash. Thankfully, another owner was kind enough to advise us of the protocol and gave us one of her extras. The Amazon leash is otherwise a great one capable of lasting a long time under everyday use.
