Absolutely no issue with driving 3 monitors plus the laptop screen, including a 4k monitor.
Linux detected it properly, including all USB peripherals, keyboard and mouse, and screens.
Note that this model does not feature USB-c charging for the laptop, so you will need to plug in your laptop to power as well.
- Ethernet is detected as a r8152 without issue.
- All USB and both Display Ports work.
- I have not tried the HDMI port but I imagine it works fine.
- Headphone jack works and is detected as a USB sound device (snd_usb_audio)
PopOs/Ubuntu/Linux detect the display port monitors but won't send a signal if the laptop is using Hybrid or the laptops integrated Intel graphics. I needed to switch to the Nvidia card to get the displays to work. The USB ports and the Ethernet still function while using Hybrid or Intel, just not the display ports.
I still use the external power adapter on my laptop because of it's power consumption and haven't enabled or tried charging via the thunderbolt port. Image it would work though.
I am not happy with it since it doesn't connect well to my second monitor. When I connect it to the computer, it works well, but when it's on my docking station, it doesn't one time out of three. Other than that, I like the docking station in general. It turns out to be super useful when you have lots of things to connect to your computer.
I will try to contact them and will edit my review after to let you know how it went.
It's compatible with the laptop, I downloaded softwares, updates, drivers, read the blog, asked support from IBM/Lenovo.
They sent me a brand new item, still the same problem. When you keep reading online regarding this unit, a lot of people they are having the same issue. DO NOT buy, I'm telling you there's way easier and cheaper docking out there.
Works flawlessly with an HP laptop and a 4k monitor.
Windows has drivers for it and installs them automatically, but I also installed the one from Lenovo just in case.
USB-C connection also charges the laptop, so now it is the only one cable connected to the laptop.
