About the authors
Catherine began her 35-year career at the National Geographic Society as a researcher and writer. With her educational background in wildlife biology, she moved on to serve as science editor for NG KIDS magazine; her master's degree in early childhood development led to her position as Executive Editor of Preschool Content. Catherine has authored several books in the popular series for pre-schoolers—National Geographic Little Kids First Big Books. Now retired, Catherine continues to combine her three life passions: kids, natural history, and the written word, as a consultant, writer, and editor for children's books. A lifelong traveler, she has lived on three continents and visited all seven. She and her husband live in northern Virginia and have a grown son.
