It’s been five years since I’ve seen him. An unexpected event takes me back to the place where it all began.
But I’m no longer the naive young woman he once knew. And he’s no longer the man who took nearly everything from me.
Can this be our time? Or is it too late? Did I find myself only to lose him?

QUOTE: [“…I wish I knew with certainty how this story will end.”… “I know how I want it to end right now. But I’m so f**king scared of the plot twist because there are just too many chapters left. And I no longer trust life and its plot twists.”]
Rating: 5 LOVE ME TODAY STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: Contemporary Romance, Forbidden
POV: single (h) POV
Cliffy: no, Book 2 of a duet.
Triggers: Emotional/ Implied cheating
Unexpected. Heart wrenching. Unputdownable.
After finishing The Naked Fisherman the previous night I couldn’t wait to dive into The Lost Fisherman, I had no idea that Jewel E Ann was about to pull my heart out crush it from the very start- repeatedly. 𝑈𝑛𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑒𝑑
There was no light build up in the continuation of this duet as relentless waves of emotions pulled me under, I felt like I was drowning in heartache. 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡 𝑤𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔
I read this book in under a day- a very rare occurrence for me- it was in every essence of the word: 𝑈𝑛𝑝𝑢𝑡𝑑𝑜𝑤𝑛𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒
As much as I found young Reece relatable I instantly fell in love with this more mature/ grown up and grounded adult version of herself- don’t get me wrong, the old (young) Reece was still very in there and it was comforting in an odd way.
Here the tables have been turned, it was not quite a role reversal but it really broke my heart seeing our sexy, cocky Fisher Mann so lost. I was struck by his inner turmoil and felt the struggle he had despite being aware that he was falling in love with Reece again.
[“…But for me, it doesn’t matter if you loved me then, it only matters if you love me now.” He turned. “Just …” I whispered. “Love me today.”
“I love you today,” he said.]
Gahhhh, my eternal romantic heart… ALL THE SWOONS!
The angst-o-meter ran high, but it was balanced well with humour, entertaining and witty banter, family drama, sizzling steam- and I learnt a few new words too.
[I want him to fall in love with me, not a bunch of memories of an eighteen-year-old girl.” There. I said the quiet part aloud. I wanted Fisher Mann to fall in love with me … again.]
If I questioned their initial connection in book one, there was no doubt that I rooted for Reece & Fisher- is there cheating? That’s debatable… all I wanted was a HEA for the main characters.
I should mention how much I adored Rose throughout this book. I loved all the mom moments shared between her and Reece and Reece and her mom. Seeing their relationship grow warmed my heart.
I’d there was something more I wanted from this story: it would be to see more of Fisher’s POV… and for the wrap up to feel less hasty or rushed, but even that couldn’t take away from a full 5 STAR rating.
