Review

An extraordinarily different story by Robert Munsch is a gentle affirmation of the love a parent feels for their child -- forever. Sheila McGraw's soft and colorful pastels perfectly complement the sentiment of the book -- one that will be read repeatedly for years. ― NutSpace Published On: 2019-03-28

There are certain books about a parent's unconditional love for a child that are timeless--and this is one of them. ―
Baltimore's Child Published On: 2010-01-20

One of my all-time favorites. I cry every time I read it.... [The book] is a beautiful script about parenthood, a poignant parable about life and death, a testimony to when the roles of child and parent become blurry. The story reminds you that no matter how grown up you are, you're always someone's child; that no matter how "adult" you are, you're never too old to be loved by your parents. It makes me appreciate even more how my mother still calls me and my brother (despite us being 32- and 22-years-old, respectively) by our childhood nicknames, Pussycat and Tchotchke (Yiddish for "knickknack"). Pigeonholing this as a children's book is like saying "Romeo & Juliet" is merely a cautionary tale about drug abuse. I dare anyone to read this story and not shed at least one tear by the end. It's even more poignant when you learn that Munsch wrote the book as a memorial to two still-born children he and his wife had in 1979 and 1980. -- Dana Lenetz ―

Robert Munsch's beloved tale is gentle affirmation of the love a parent feels for her child -- forever. Nurtured by the unconditional love of his parent, a boy grows happily through the stages of childhood to become, in turn, a loving adult. ―

This book is beyond emotional. I dare any mother out there, or any child with an aging parent, to read this story and not have a lump in your throat... Should definitely be apart of your child's book collection. ―

NEW RELEASE! Life's too short to concentrate on just one genre, and lately, McGraw has hopped from the kid-lit sandbox to the grown-ups' steamy hot tub with "The Knife Thrower's Wife" a mystery/domestic-suspense novel.

Sheila McGraw was born in Toronto and began her career as an illustrator and copywriter for retail fashion outlets and editorial publications. In 1986 she was approached by Firefly Books to illustrate "Love You Forever" written by Robert Munsch. As that book achieved success she wrote and/or illustrated several craft and children's books. McGraw's "Papier-Mache for Kids" was awarded the prestigious Benjamin Franklin Award. Her artwork has been widely exhibited and represented by the Loch Galleries in Canada.

The best seller Love You Forever has been voted Most Iconic Book Cover in a readers' poll conducted by CBC. Thank you to everyone who voted for Love You Forever.

Sheila McGraw is painting and writing in Houston Texas. She is the mother of 3 grown sons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic - Makes you Cry Every time
Reviewed in Canada on January 16, 2020
An incredible classic that will crush you every time you read it. If you’re trying to instill the sentiment that you will always love your little one through thick and thin while also making them wonder why mommy and daddy cry so much while reading a children’s book then this is the book for you.

Seriously though I think this book is a required addition to anyone’s library.

1.0 out of 5 stars Get this book out of my house ASAP
Reviewed in Canada on October 1, 2020
This book is grossly unsettling. I started off reading it outloud to my daughter and had to stop once I got to the third page. The book gave me chills as if I was reading a curse outloud! Please pray for discernment parents, just because over 14 thousand ppl purchased this book DOES NOT MAKE IT A GOOD BOOK. The illustrations are so off to me. The mother creeps into the baby's room and stares at him wide eyed and does so again and again in every page. In one page it was 1:30 am and she just watched him sleep!!.... then we learn that the son uses bad words and drives his mom crazy but she loves him anyway, which is nice but its beginning to feel less and less age appropriate. The mother creeping into her older sons bedroom with a ladder nightly was ghastly... and when the son does the same to her we see i giant size framed picture of him as an infant in nothing but a diaper over her bed.
