Quick & Easy Instructions

---|---|---|---|
MeasureWith gloves on, pour equal amounts of resin (A) and hardener (B) into a mixing cup. Ex.: 250ml (A) with 250ml (B). If you measure by weight (g), us mixing ratio 100A:85B. Ex.: 300g (A) with 255g (B) |
MixStir both parts slowly by hands for 4-5 minutes. Make sure to scrap the sides while stirring. Once done, you have around 30 minutes of working time. |
PourMake sure that your project is leveled and pour the resin on it. DO NOT scrap the resin out of the container, just dump it and leave the remaining material in the container. Tip: After pouring, you can quickly pass a blow torch a few inches over the resin to pop all the extra air bubbles. |
WaitIf you need to do an additional pour, you can do do so between 4 to 10 hours after the last pour. If you wait longer than that, you will need to sand your project with some 180 or 220 grit sandpaper. Your project will be hard within 24 hours, and cured within 3 days. If your project is something like a table top or a coaster, we recommend to wait at least 7 days before putting objects on it, to ensure that the resin has become fully scratch-resistant. |

The counter required 5 gallons, 1 gallon seal coat and 4 gallons flood coat, 8 colors total. I mixed 0.8 gallons at a time (3 L) so 5 mixes total for the flood, 4 colors mixed for each flood. My wife would mix and I would pour. The mixing was done with a drill (star like with what looks like 5 spikes) for 5 minutes each batch (no white streaks). The paddle with spikes was perfect as it didn't introduce bubbles when mixing.
The temperature was set at 24C in the room and the epoxy was in the garage prior to the mixing at 24C as well. I found out when doing the seal coat that this was a bit low (consistency of the resin part seemed too thick and I had to warm it up in a bath of hot water). I upped the temperature of the garage at 27C for a day before doing the flood coats and this seemed better.
The consistency of the resin by design is thicker so when I prepared the 1:1 quantities the resin had some bubbles which wouldn't go to surface. This got me panicking a bit. Once mixed with the hardener the consistency becomes more liquid. The pour, after mixing the metallic pigments had no bubbles whatsoever. I torched first after each pour and I sprayed 91% isopropyl alcohol after all 5 pours were done.
Final design has no bubbles at all! Some metallic pigments were not mixed properly and they formed small craters from place to place but this is not eye bothering at all. I'm just putting this here in case someone wants picture perfect surface. This could always get fixed with a clear top coat but I didn't bother.
The resin was starting to get warm while I was pouring so there isn't a lot of working time when mixing large batches. I was able however to finish each pour following my design without rushing.
Overall, amazing results!!
