Do NOT buy - defective clasp renders leash risky and useless.

DO NOT BUY. I never buy anything without reading reviews first and this leash had lots of good ones. But this leash is DANGEROUS, and even though It’s possible I got one that was just defective, the flaw is so major I can’t possibly recommend that anyone buy it, in case they get one with the same flaw. The issue is the clasp - the fundamental security of the leash! Mine looks completely normal, but if my dog pulls then the ring on his collar is able, at certain angles, to apply enough pressure to the clasp that it opens and the leash falls off. It doesn’t even have to be a hard pull - it’s more about the angle and the pressure. I can’t even replicate it by hand - it just happens. I can only thank god that my dog is pretty obedient. I thought it was a fluke the first few times, but now it has happened 5 times and I’ve only used it maybe 20 times. That is a failure rate I can’t handle. I have NEVER experienced a leash doing this, and over the course of 32 years alive I have walked a lot of dogs with a lot of different leashes! If you NEED a leash - I.e. if you didn’t have a leash attached your dog would bolt or jump or attack or do anything other than stay right next to you...then please do not buy this leash. While it’s well constructed in every other respect, the failure of the clasp itself is fundamental. I will attach a picture so you can see that the clasp looks completely normal and non-defective, but nevertheless it is.

Great leash design but clip malfunctioned

I like everything about the length and design of this leash including the two handles and to comfort, so much that I purchased another one. However, on the newer leash, the clip became UNCLIPPED towards the end of a walk with my dog, she was standing there completely unsecured which scared me as she is a new rescue. When I compared the two clips, I can see the variability, as I tried to show in the picture. The one on the left is the one that failed, it is 2 months old. The one on the right is 4 months old. Not sure if I just ended up getting one that was flawed but my concern with the durability is enough that I wouldn't order another one.

So, we decided to try the leash while keeping a close eye on the locking mechanism. Thankfully that never unlocked. However, after using this lead for about 2 weeks, the lower handle (used to keep your dog on a shorter leash) is fraying badly. My dog hasn't even tried to chew the leash, this is simply from it dragging on the ground. I am returning this lead and getting a different brand entirely. I am very disappointed!

Though it's a well made leash itself the clasp is extremely dangerous. Very very easy for a playful dog to twist and put enough pressure on the locking mechanism to open it. Bought this leash for its reflective property and double handle but am very disappointed receiving this and finding the relective thread is on one side only and in the picture in the ad that this leash is sold clearly shows the reflective threading on both sides and found this to be a very deceptive ad and very cheap as it would not have cost them much more to put it on both sides.Makes a big difference when you are walking at night and if the leash turns one way there is no relfective property,enclosed a couple pictures of my leash and you can clearly see it is on one side only but where as in the ad it clearly shows it being on both sides,very deceptive feel like someone has ripped me of

The leash has held up fantastic with my Great Pyrenees, Sherman. He weighs 180lbs and I can control him easily with this leash. The extra handhold allows me to reign him in easily without struggling to get a grip. If I need to shorten my lead when we're out, I simply grab the low handle and don't have to worry about the leash slipping. Well worth it. I will never buy another leash without the extra loop. The clasp and structure of the leash are also good quality with fairly comfortable handholds. I would recommend this leash to anyone with a large dog.
