For years and years I was spending a lot of money on home coffee, getting freshly roasted, single-source whole-beans as part of a subscription service, and grinding it up as needed before brewing. And I enjoyed it just fine, but I never actually grew to prefer it over a standard cup of coffee from a McDonalds or a Starbucks or a Double Cup, or even Tim's dark roast. Even though I drink coffee black, it all tastes pretty samey to me, with very few exceptions that I outright hate (including Tim's original blend, and whatever the heck they're brewing at my office). I can notice the "fruity" or "nutty" or "chocolatey" flavour notes of a premium brew on my first sip, but very quickly that fades and it just tastes like coffee.
I took a flyer on this tin of McCafe because it was so comparatively cheap, and the prospect of not needing to grind my coffee every morning appealed to me. And sure enough, it tastes perfectly fine, and I can get a pot of coffee brewing in less than a minute. I don't really miss the artisanal stuff I was drinking before, and I appreciate how quick and easy it is to brew, and how quickly and cheaply I can get a replacement tin, either here on Amazon or from my local grocery store.
