Moth: An Evolution Story Kindle Edition
“A rare pleasure … a true story of adaptation and hope.” -Wall Street Journal
Powerful and visually spectacular, Moth is the remarkable evolution story that captures the struggle of animal survival against the background of an evolving human world in a unique and atmospheric introduction to Darwin's theory of Natural Selection.
“This is a story of light and dark…”
Against a lush backdrop of lichen-covered trees, the peppered moth lies hidden. Until the world begins to change...
Along come people with their magnificent machines which stain the land with soot. In a beautiful landscape changed by humans how will one little moth survive?
A clever picture book text about the extraordinary way in which animals have evolved, intertwined with the complication of human intervention. This remarkable retelling of the story of the peppered moth is the perfect introduction to natural selection and evolution for children.

Everything about this book is gorgeous. The hardback covers are coated with some magical material that makes them feel as silky as a moth's wings. The art work is superb, and the story line meaningful, poetic and accessible for children. I read this with my 5 and 9 year old and both loved it. It tells the true evolutionary story of a moth species that changes its appearance as a result of environmental factors. It helps children to understand evolution, while at the same time gently pointing out that human actions can have both negative and positive consequences for wildlife. We need more books like this.

This is a beauty of a book with some of the most gorgeous illustrations and most accessible written sections I’ve seen.
Overall, the concept is a pure winner and perhaps one of the simplest of ways to introduce the younger generation to the concept of evolution.
It’s also lovely to see the emphasis on moths, as opposed to the usual butterflies!
A stunning book and thoroughly enjoyed by all ages in our home, this is highly recommended.
