Nightfall really stands out from the other three books. I would consider it lighter than the others, the end of the massive plot of the series, and also the most tragic one.
Will is a great character. He shares the qualities of the other guys, but he is definitely on the sweeter side. Back in high school, he never wanted to play with Emory, but just have her. To the present time, despite the anger, he feels the same. He never played games, was straight with her, and honestly very cute. He knew he wanted her for a long time coming; it was just up to her to say yes.
I really enjoyed the time at Blackchurch. It was interesting, because it appeared separate from the other books. They were in this other world almost. It does link in with the main plot and I feel this series had a great ending to the crazy story that has spanned three other books.
I’m really happy how it ended for all the characters. I’m glad Alex got her happy ending, though I never liked her and this book strengthened my dislike for her.
All in all, great ending and I loved reading it, but it isn’t the favorite of the series.
Nightfall was everything I wanted it to be and more. There were plot twists that I didn't see coming, but were oh so good!!
And the banter when the whole gang got together provided many LOLs. There were a lot of times I was frustrated because of how invested I was in the story. PD is just so good at creating real characters - flawed humans with troubled histories, experiencing real emotions and conflicts.
A lot of readers of the romance genre tend to fan-girl about the H, but I find myself so much more able to relate the the h in PD's books. They're not perfect, and thank goodness for that. Emory Scott is definitely not perfect, and I absolutely love her.
Will Grayson definitely didn't disappoint. A lot of the intrigue that developed in the earlier books was 'solved' in a sense, and he pulled at my heartstrings quite a bit.
And seeing the whole gang interact! And the final confrontation!
Do yourself a favour and read this series!! You will not regret it.

Can't believe this is the final part of the series! I am not ready to leave this world behind! I will never look at Halloween and Devil's night in a same way ever again!
Who wants a hug from the hug machine ??? Damon stole the spotlight in this book again! That man has my heart forever!
As much as I wanted to I couldn't give 5 stars to this book. I enjoyed it and it kept me entertained but it felt like Penelope just wanted to get rid of this series as soon as possible. Which sounds weird as it is a long book but there were so many parts that was unnecessary! There are things that needed to be answered but we never got the answers at the end !! It feels like Lost( the series) all over again. The built up for the final book was great and the last part let us down!
Who was in charge of Blackchurch? Nobody was watching them so who decided when they can leave ? What about security, injuries ?? If the oarents wanted their children to get better why did't they have any counselling sessions ? So many unanswered questions about that place....
Where did Athos come from ? It is a lovely idea that Michael and Rika adopted a little girl but what was she doing alone in the Cove ?? They got a miracle baby at the end, that would have been perfectly enough because now I can only think about where did that girl come from .....
And let's talk about Emmy and Will. They are madly in love but why ??? They barely talked to each other and when they did Emmy was bloody rude to Will! Then they loose connection for 9 years, end up in an orgy, Emmy "scissors" Alex, then all is magically forgiven and they are back to loving each other again ... I mean .... come on !!! All the previous books we had the chance to look into their relationships, see how said relationship developed over the years, and we know why they love each other! Not in this one.... I have no idea why does Will love Emmy. She was so bloody rude to Will all the time!
This book just didn't make any sense!
Alright, I am going to stop here. I could go on and on, but all in all I love this series. I might give this book an other try and see if I could give it a better review second time around, but right now I feel very let down by it.
At least we got to see more of the Hug Machine!
We’ve been wondering about Will’s whereabouts for a while and in NIGHTFALL we discovered exactly where he was, though the whys and hows of what happened take some time to be revealed.
I loved reading the beginnings of Emory and Will’s relationship, through youthful naivety and the rose tint of first love - all while Emmy’s life at home was a living hell that she kept secret from everyone (except the one person you’d least expect to notice and try to help!!) - to the heartbreaking ending, that left Will in particular wondering what the hell happened and caused hell to break loose.
I felt that the story explained Will’s self destructive behaviour to an extent, though it wasn’t only related to his relationship with Emory but also to how he saw himself and viewed his own worth within the circle of his friends.
Their story was heartbreaking (I spent a fair bit of time in tears while reading certain chapters) and while their reactions and feelings when they meet again seemed to be of hate and distrust, ultimately their hearts were still with each other, and it seemed that this could be a case of whether or not they had the potential for a way froward and possible future together.....if they wanted it.
Some of both Em and Will’s actions and words were cutting and painful but you can completely understand the reasons behind them. Secrets and lies and the twisted motives of others led to the loss of nearly a decade for the pair, though in all honesty, I think they both needed the time and growth to find themselves and be what the other needed.
If I had one teeny issue with the book it was the thread around Alex that for a bit, for me personally, overshadowed Emory especially. I get that Alex has been a part of Will’s life for a while and that their relationship was quite different from what he had with Em, but in all honesty, I wish we’d had less of Alex and more ‘present day’ conversation and connection between the leads. Will’s behaviour towards Emory when Alex was around vexed me at times but saying that, Emory wasn’t completely innocent in some of her actions, decisions and comments at those points.
Overall, Penelope Douglas has most certainly ensured that NIGHTFALL was definitely my favourite read of the series and Will & Emmy are by far my fave couple (closely followed by Kai & Nik!!).
I enjoyed seeing the growth and development of the other guys and girls we’ve met in the series and the epilogue was great (yeah, it left more than a couple of questions but maybe we’ll get answers to them at some point in the future..... we can but hope!!)
The final instalment of the Devil’s Night story answered a lot of questions, gave closure for some of the characters, had more than a couple of twists and unexpected surprises and was a fantastic way to wrap up the series.
If you’re a fan of PD’s you’ll definitely enjoy it. If you’re new to Pen’s work, start at the beginning and grab yourself a copy of Corrupt.
A book full of Darkness, fear, excitement, angst and bonds so tied that never will stop existing, no matter what!!!! Such a RUSH, I'm telling you!!!
We have already seen Michael and Rika's book, Kai and Bangs's story and now, it was Damon's turn!!!
God, how much i was hating him in the previous two books!!! He was the worst of them all!!! He was the most crazy, dangerous, messed up in the head man and he did some awful things to the rest of the crew!!!! And for that reason, he was banished from the bunch and he was bound to make their lives miserable.... But they weren't fools!!! They were ready for him!!!
As you can understand, in this book, HIS book, he made me think differently about him!!!!
Damon has unfinished businesses with someone else, except his former best friends!!!! And her name is Winter!!! The woman who locked him up in prison for three years!!!
But their story was also complicated... Those two had history together!!! A big one....
And between them was too much bad blood and too much hatred... Or not???
At some point, they were close... The reasons doesn't matter...
And yes, their minds have revenge on them, but their hearts and bodies remember different things!!!
So, Damon has done the unspeakable... He married Winter's sister in order to be closer to her and make her pay for what she did to him...
Winter also hates Damon because he had ruined her life, not only once.... And now, she is forced to be living under the same roof with him and to look behind her shoulder all the damn time... since his threats are following her everywhere... But she is determined to not give him the pleasure of winning... She will fight back, not matter the consequences!!!!
But where all this mess will lead them, while there is still something lingering between them???
Something strong and beyond their power???
Those two together were like a volcano ready to explode...
The lava was super hot and it was making me hot and bothered... Their encounters were so sexy, even when they were just fighting....
They were meant to be together and together, they could be better persons...
Winter was bright and she could throw away Damon's darkness... She was his snowflake, after all!!!!
She was the only woman who could excite him and make him come back for more and more...
I loved them together, but which couple in here wasn't messed up, but so loveable at the same time???
Also, i loved how Damon realized his mistakes toward his friends...
And i loved them for being such a good friends, even though he didn't deserve it!!!
I also loved the connection that there was between Damon and Will!!!
The developments in here was vital and life changing.... I can't wait for more...
The final Horseman to tell his tale is William Grayson III , his presence was missing for a lot of the previous books and here we find out why. The double crossing , lies, twists , family secrets all come together in Nightfall. Will and Emery Scott... Holy Moly... could their happiness have any more obstacles in their way?! I thought the corrupt forces were going to win this one Justice did not come easily. Once again they made the perfect couple , played to each other’s strengths, Emery made Will want to be a better person not just for himself, he knew he was on a destructive path. She was the catalyst to him to turn his life around.
However, I have a feeling that we haven’t seen the last of these four guys. There’s still the 60 year old mystery of the first Horseman to reveal not to mention the epilogue .... like WHAT THE HELL !! I hope there is another book coming. I’m not ready to give this world up yet!
This book was everything that I wanted and more. I had been eagerly anticipating Will and Emmy's story from the very beginning, immediately knowing that they were going to be my favourite. And was the wait worth it, very much so! I adored them so much and this story.
Will is easily my favourite of the boys - I loved how he had a sensitive side, I love how he cried in this book and showed his emotions, I love how he loved so easily, how earnest, how strong and kind he was. I eagerly devoured his parts wanting to get inside his tortured, beautiful head.
Emmy was so strong and awesome, the way she didn't take it from anyone and her strength just made me absolutely love her. I loved all her interactions too with people, especially Damon which really surprised me! I didn't think they were going to have a close relationship but they did - which I adored.
I really loved Damon in this book actually he made me laugh lots, especially when he made that cutthroat sign at Emmy and him interacting with his million and one boys at the end made me giggle! I loved being able to see a glimpse at the others too, this was a real together book and had lots of family moments which I enjoyed and felt the others books lacked a little! I also love how Alex finally found someone to love her!
WILL AND EMMY OMG! They were just so perfect, the amount of times I got butterflies over them - especially during the flashbacks. Some of the things Will would say to her made me swoon so much, I want a Will. I love how Emmy was finally able to accept his love and accept love for her, I was like FINALLY YES. They are easily my favourite couple!
Being able to see all of their kids was so cool and I'm so intrigued by that last epilogue, I don't if Penelope is going to make a book on Athos. But damn. I'm happy with the way this series was wrapped up though! I loved it and this book was so amazing!
