To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This is a must buy for the switch. There is a lot to do in this game and it's Mario. Coming from the Mario 64 days it brings back so many memories. I am very impressed by the graphics and the creative design elements in this game. If you are a completionist this will be very difficult to achieve as there are so many hidden stars in the game.
Pros: Encourages exploration of the worlds. It's Mario! Fun and creative uses of "cappy".
Cons: It's a bit on the easy side. You cannot really lose in the game. You receive pretty much infinite lives because when you die as Mario you only lose a small amount of coins which are easily collectible in the game.
I VERY recently got into video games, and decided that a Switch would be the best console for me and my casual gaming needs. I went back and forth on getting a copy of this game because I found it expensive, but finally decided to bite the bullet as I used to play Super Mario 64 as a kid and wanted an updated version of it (though this is by no means any sort of sequel).
This game is SO much fun. The main quest line took me a couple weeks of regular playing to get through, but there's still SO much for me to see and do. I love how big some of the worlds are and how I keep finding random new areas with Power Moons and purple coins that I previously missed.
Just fantastic. Worth every penny, especially given the resale value of Nintendo first party games. Too easy to complete if you rush through it, but impossible to get 100% on for all but the most diligent pro gamers. Can be played for days or weeks on end and is beautiful to behold. The best Mario since 64, and I hope there's a sequel. Buying on Amazon saved me $10 too, so even better. It would be the best game of the year if not for Zelda, also from Nintendo and also on Switch. Only Mario can be played two player, sort of.
Such a good game. My husband and I fight over who get to play their game all the time. LOL. Very addictive and appeals to both all types of gamers - my husband loves turn-based strategy games and anything that's extra challenging, whereas I prefer side scrollers and games that are extra easy. This game delivers for both. There's an "assist mode" for those who get easily frustrated at games (so I use that all the time).
I like in the game how it goes from 3d to 2d and back to 3d. I have played the 2d Super Mario Bros. on the NES and it brings back some memories. I have also played Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64 and then later on I played Super Mario 64 DS version on my Nintendo DS. I am playing also Super Mario Sunshine on my Nintendo Gamecube. I grew up with Mario. If Nintendo ever re-releases the Super Mario 3d all stars 35th anniversary collection for the Nintendo Switch I will buy it. I am happy with my purchase.
This game literally doesn’t end. It’s mostly an easy run through but honestly there were times I had to put it down and curse Nintendo. I found at points thinking, is this really a kids game? 30 years of avid game playing and THIS kids game is going to make me crack? It’s tough and easy at the same time. Just when you think you’ve hit the plausible end point The game continues. And then even when you DO beat the game it just keeps on going. There are almost 1000 things to collect and if you put in work and hours you still won’t find it all without a guide or headache. Get this game. It’s kind of insane that Nintendo put so much into this game. It’s totally worth it.
Nice graphics. Kinda bizzare story. Also it's not original to the Switch it's a ported game from a previous Nintendo system (as are a lot of the switch games )
Spoiler alert. Basically as Mario you run around chasing Bowser to defeat him pretty standard .but here is the bizarre part. Bower is forcing the princess peach to marry him and is going around stealing stuff for the wedding and Mario's companion is a "being" that can basically possess anyone that ability is constantly utilized. so basically it's all about forced marriage and forced possession.
I didn't purchase this game until later. I really fell in love with it because it was a solo game for a solo player. I found myself mesmerized by all the music and characters in the game. You can play this game no matter what age you are. I love finishing the game and going back to retrieve all the hidden stars and coins. This is absolutely wonderful and better to play on a television screen!
The game is an absolute blast to play. Nails that Super Mario 64 feel, yet gives it something completely new and entertaining.
I understand people’s frustration with Amazon’s inability to ship pre-ordered games on time. I believe the only reason I got mine on release day was that I bought other items with one day shipping, and Amazon decided to send it with that to save on costs. Otherwise I’d be waiting like everyone else. But please don’t rate the game/product based on their incompetence.
