I read some reviews and thought let’s give it a try! Do it! You won’t be disappointed, the seasoning is a blend of various spices. It tastes great, we have used it to season baked Chicken breast and to marinate chicken thighs. We seasoned ground beef and it tasted great. Was very flavourful and not salty. Happy with adding a new spice to the pantry and one that will get lots of use!
It's not too heavy on any of the spices, and includes celery, salt, red pepper, black pepper, paprika, and other spices to give it the light sweet and slightly hot flavouring.
We're keeping this up at camp to use with our fresh fish, but I've been using it with our chicken - and I really like the flavouring. I just marinade the chicken about 30 minutes before cooking (olive oil and enough seasoning to cover), and it's delish!
The sodium content isn't horrible, so I feel good about feeding it to my family.
Great value for the size as well.
So I decided to finally try and it given all the culture and mainstay behind it, I bought a larger stash (which is honestly pretty good value). It's really just for the foods it mentions: seafood, salads and chicken. Anything else with a more complex flavor gets muddled but this slosh of salt and hot pepper - that's all I got from this. Terrible on beef, just over salted and 0 beef flavour left. Tried to sprinkle this on a broth as part of a dish and 0 broth flavor was found. So just be careful on what you use this on - leave it off of more delicate flavors that can carry itself.
My only negative comment would be is that it’s not a spice that works with beef. If you want to ruin a perfectly good steak than try it for yourself. It is what it’s intended to be, a excellent spice for fish and seafood recipes.
