My second concern about this book Is the page with the basket.... I am not sure if this is just a typo for a small lot of books including the one I got or if all versions state that a cat says Mew Mew. I honestly think that is something pretty hard to get wrong.
The book is beautifully illustrated and I do like the variety of animals on the farm that are included in the book however the spelling mistake has really let this book down. It’s also a little frustrating how the book goes from adult animals to baby animals.

So this sounds petty, but at this age, I think consistency in teaching is important, and maybe it’s just me and how I learned sounds, but there are a few small inconsistencies that I didn’t think were a big deal but bothered me after a while, especially when my daughter kept getting it “wrong” because, yes, a horse says “neigh” but not in this book. It’s a pony. And cat doesn’t go mew-mew to me. I would say “meow.” And on that page, it asks “Who says mew-mew?” Under the flap there is a cat and kittens but the answer is “Cats”. On the last page it asks “Who says hoot?” I would personally say “who who” or something, not hoot, but whatever. You open the flimsy flap and it shows two owls but the answer is “an owl”. But there’s two!
And why does a dog say woof-woof and a cat says mew-mew but everything else is a single sound (moo, peep, oink). And ducks say quack. Again, ducklings is technically right, but a duck would be better for teaching.
That all sounds petty but these are the basics and it just seems slightly off. Maybe that’s the noises someone else would teach but it’s just not for me. It’s in the details and it just seems like no one was paying attention when putting together this book or else maybe it’s written for somewhere else that teaches these noises. I’m not sure.

Update: this is my sons favourite book. He always has this book in his hand unless he cant find it.

The book is smaller than I was expecting (dimensions, as per Amazon are 9.9cm x 9.9cm), but this actually turned out to be a plus point as it’s great for throwing in the changing bag when we go out, or acting as a distraction in the car.
The book is a lift-the-flap book and has lots of pages. Each page poses a question – for example ‘who says moo?’ and opening the flap will reveal the animal in question. This was a great tool for my daughter to learn the names of farm animals and the noises that they made.
As this is a board book it is durable and despite having owned it for around a year and it having lots of use, our copy is still in remarkably good condition, with all the flaps still intact.
I would strongly recommend this book, I don’t really have anything negative to say about it. I think it is perfect for little one’s aged one and over.

I hope this book will serve me a lot in the future when we are out and about with my toddler.
