Wish it was still in print.

OK, so it needs updating, but it still is such a wonderful little fun handbook on manners...a dying art in America. Some of the death of manners is because we are now an amalgamation of cultures all with their own code of ethics and manners, and some is simply the result of "if it feels good, do it." I, for one, would love to see people, not just kids, relearn and practice these simple manners rules. Great teacher resource.

Great for teaching manners to preschoolers!

When I'm reading "Perfect Pigs" to my preschoolers, I give Mr. Perfect Pig a pompous, know-it-all personality. They like to catch him tracking mud through the house or leaving sandwich fixings all over the counter for someone else to clean up. Then they all tell Mr. Perfect Pig how he should act in each situation. I like the way it is divided into categories such as home, school, with friends. I think they also like the comic strip type layout.

I bought this a a gift for my daughter who is all grown. We wore out the copy we had when she was small. The illustrations are hilarious and many manners are covered from don't play with your food or talk with your mouth full, ask before you borrow something etc. Everything you want your children to be aware of to grow into polite considerate adults is covered in such a way that even small children can understand.

What ever happened to manners...I know when I was a kid I'd do the eye roll when mom told us to keep our elbows off the table...but this is just the basics...it's OK to have SOME manners!

The first time I read this book was in '93 or '94. I was 6 or 7. I read this book nearly everyday. I recommend it to young parents who want to teach their children manners. It's humorous as well as a guide for manners.
