Pros of the Phillips unit:
-battery power is good - on one charge, I've used it three times already without needing a recharge
-zoom wheel - having two combs and the zoom wheel to have multiple lengths in 1mm increments is a huge improvement over having a separate comb for each length... further, the Phillips combs are of a a sturdy, harder plastic (Wahl combs were flimsier)
-detachable blade - blade detaches easily with one push button, making for easy cleaning underneath the blade, inside the unit
Cons of the Phillips unit:
-underpowered - not sure if the issue is Wahl vs Phillips, or corded versus corded clippers.... I find this Phillips unit a bit underpowered; I find myself making more passes to get my hair evenly cut. It's better on the "turbo" setting, although I gather this cuts down on the battery life before needing recharging
-washable - unit is indeed washable under running water. In practice, I don't find this useful... I find running under the tap just results in wet hair being stuck to the clipper, making a bigger mess than just dusting off dry hair.
Overall, am happy with the unit and no regrets - the underpowered issue isn't a deal breaker so long as making more passes to cut your hair isn't an issue for you, and the zoom wheel is a big plus compared to models that have a different comb for each length.
The battery life is good. I used it 3-4 times after the first charge before it ran out of juice. This model has a Li-ion battery which is better than the Ni-MH kind in the cheaper 3000 and 5000 models (which takes longer to charge - ~70 mins for these vs. ~8 hours for the cheaper ones). The whole unit is safe to rinse with water (but let it dry completely before plugging it in). The cutting head pops of with a release button so you can clean inside there. You can use it while plugged in and charging or unplugged on battery power. This is good if you forgot to charge it or need to do a lot of hair cutting. The charging and power indicator light is handy. I haven't noticed it overheating or even getting warm yet, which has been a problem with a previous plug-in clipper I had. I haven't found the turbo button necessary but some might. I like that it is a toggle switch - you press it and it stays on turbo, you don't have to hold the button down for it to stay on turbo. On both regular and turbo speed it is reasonably quiet. Although on that not there is some occasional rattle from the combs.
The combs are easy to exchange (just pull them out and push them in, I don't think it mentions that in the instructions - there's not release button or anything). I love that there are only three combs to worry about, not the usual 8-10 (though I suppose breaking one is a bigger deal this way). The combs both cover a wide range of hair lengths (2 - 28 mm, many others only go to 10 mm, which it pretty short) and have pretty small increments between them (1 mm). There is a short beard stubble comb that doesn't adjust, a short comb for 3-15 mm and a long comb for 16-28 mm. Adjusting the cutting height with the dial is simple and intuitive. I was worried that putting pressure on the comb would cause it to push back into the clippers and reduce the cutting length but this really isn't an issue. you would have to push pretty hard for that. It's nice to not have to switch out a comb for every length change. There are indicators on the dial to show the current length setting for each comb in mm. The combs glide pretty smoothly across skin and hair, and the tips are fairly rounded, not too pointy. It's lightweight and comfortable to hold. The curvature of the body is nice sometimes but not a game changer.
The extras included aren't great, but that's neither a surprise nor a deal breaker. The black plastic comb is fine but not superb. I found the scissors short and tight, in that they take a lot of force to open and close. There is a small cleaning brush that is fine. This one comes with a soft fabric case that is not ideal. I cut up the paper mold the clippers come in in the box so it fits inside the zippered case and has some structure and the pieces stay in place. I have seen other versions of this model that come with a semi-hard clam shell case. Get that version if you can, it would be better than this flimsy one.
I wish it came with a storage pouch but I just used my old toiletries bag to store it along with all the accessories.
Great product from Philips!

I had to choose between this Philips and the cordless Wahl.
The Wahl was heavier with 90 grams, an old design, and over 12 combs that included 1mm (that I need to fade). It needs to be oiled. The Wahl's box was way too big for travel. The old design looks exactly like the trusty cord Wahl that I used for years the only difference is this has a battery inside and I think is a little heavier and wider. No light to show the status of the battery/charging. Charging between 3 to 5 hours.
This Philips hair-clipper is lighter, just 3 combs with a smart system. They have from 0.5 mm to 28 mm with a big omission - the 1 mm comb or setting is missing. I used that for fading. No oiling is required. It can be washed. Status of the battery/charging included. Turbo setting - never used it. Charged in one hour. Very light, soft travel bag included. The hair-clipper looks very modern and feels very lite in your hand - like a toy.
I decided to go with Philips. I used it already for 2 haircuts and the result was great. I used a Wahl 1mm comb ( from an older clipper) with a little weak tape to attach to the hair clipper - to fade and was great.
