How well do we know the ones we love?
From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author comes a romantic, psychological-thriller that critics call "unputdownable!"
The summer before fourth grade, Colten Mosley moved into the house across the street from mine, and we became inseparable.
He played the piano and baseball.
I had a penchant for dead things while at the same time imagining what it would be like to kiss Colten.
We were filled with curiosity and overly active imaginations.
We were also forbidden to be more than friends.
But that didn’t stop us.
Weeks before graduation, he annihilated my heart, and it’s been seventeen years since the day I knew I’d hate him forever.
Now he’s back in my life—a single dad and a homicide detective looking over my shoulder while I perform autopsies as one of Chicago’s most gifted forensic pathologists. Then fate throws us a curveball.
Colten saves my life, but he can’t erase the images that now keep me awake at night. And I can’t explain them.
Am I still the girl he’s always loved? Or nothing more than pieces of that life?

The last bit of the book is a mystery to me. Not really sure where this is going but I'm looking forward to book #2
Her characters, her story lines, her life lessons that you didn't know you needed a reminder on. She is simply one of the absolute best story tellers.
Every page is "slow down.....dont read so fast" ... or "oh my god what was that my eyes think they saw farther down the page" lol. You have to know whats happening and you need to slow down to enjoy it. I adored the back n forth in the story. The past I was dying for it to continue, however, loved when the next chapter was the present. Each place in time I loved reading about.
These two characters are just that, characters and they have me sucked right in.
Jewel gives Josephine and Colten so much depth, I love learning about thier childhood, about thier today's. My face hurts from smiling while reading and laughing so hard. There are also tender moments where you cry a little. ( OK maybe more than a little) That's just what Jewel does, she completely wraps you in her stories, in her vision, in her words.
The story is complex, it's boy meets girl, it's HOLY HELL what just happened!!! Then it OH NO SHE DIDN'T, SHE WOULDN'T OOOOHHH SHE MIGHT. I thought I knew I really did, I thought I got it this time. .....but nope 🙅♀️ again I'm wrong. Weird though I'm glad I'm wrong.
I completely and utterly love this story, the characters, the plot, the twist, the laughs and OH MY GOD THE TEARS!!! This one brought out alot of different emotions in me and I welcomed them all.
Amazing job Jewel, 👏 cannot wait for the conclusion.
I have never laughed so hard as I did whenever Josie and Colten were together. When we get snippets of their past and how close they were as kids, Josie’s amazing ability to turn every little thing into a debate and the way that Colten was able to keep up with her arguments was absolutely hilarious and heartwarming. These two were made for each other in every way.
Josie and Colten have this undeniable connection that was forged when they were just kids. But something traumatic tore them apart causing irreparable damage for Josie. There is no doubt that even seventeen years later, Josie and Colten’s connection is strong and unbreakable. Their chemistry just oozed off the pages and could be felt in every chapter. I could only hope that they mend their bridges and can have some sort of happy ever after.
Brilliantly and flawlessly written story that instantly grabs your attention and keeps you fully captivated the whole way through. The storyline is filled with emotional turmoil, heartache, pain, anger, drama, violence, some very steamy moments and twists and turns that will shock you and make you gasp towards the end.
I loved every second of this story and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds with the next book.
And Colten and Josies story had me so engrossed....and then bam! A cliffhanger! Like no other cliffhanger! And now I have to wait until I can read part two of this absolutely amazing story!
The back and forth between past and present got a little funky sometimes, but it was so, so important to the story. Every little piece is needed to fully appreciate who Josie and Colten are. Josie is very straight-to-the-point and can be a little irritating at times, and Colten is someone who pushes but yet always seems to fall beside her. Both have been in love with each other for years, but is love enough to rebuild what they once had? Seventeen years is a long time apart, with hatred towards Colten, can Josie forgive him?
I loved watching these two learn who each other was again, while remembering the little quirks and pieces of each other that are core traits.
Jewel E Ann is just...perfect at writing these amazing stories that grip you from the first page and never want to end. I can't wait for part two!!!
Oh, what a ride. I completely and utterly loved every second of this story. The characters, the plots, the suspense, the laughs, and oh, don't forget the tears. Jewel spins a story like no other. The wait for the continuation of this story will be nothing short of excruciating. If you have never read a story by Jewel E Ann, let this be your first. I promise it won't be the last. She has a way of sucking you in. You will devour her books one by one after the first.

Pieces of a life is a brilliant gripping story that I couldn't put down, it tells the story of Colten and Josie, who I both love. This book is in 2 parts and I can't wait to now read Memories of a life.

I was completely drawn into Colten and Josephine story, from their childhood right through to their current life in their mid thirties. I loved that Josie was such a strong FMC, from beginning to end, and I love that Colten was the exception to everything she did and believed in.
I did not expect the story to go in the direction it went and the twist at the end of the story was an added bonus and brings an extra dimension to the storyline. Can’t wait to see where this goes in the next book.

Love the well developed characters, their story, and really enjoyed the direction this took, never saw it coming at all.
Will definitely be reading the next one in this series.
