Got this controller for my PC a while back. Don't usually go wireless but its near impossible to avoid if you want quality. Luckily, quality is what this controller has in spades. This might be the nicest controller I've ever held. It packs a fair bit of weight in it that makes it feel like I'm actually holding something, the texture is perfect for maintaining grip and comfort simultaneously, the thumbsticks also have a great texture and feel really responsive, as do all of the buttons, triggers, and the touchpad. The only complaint I had is that it came with no cable, and the instructions don't tell you how to pair it without using the cable. Its simple to do, but instructions would still be nice. For the record you just have to hold the PS button and the Create button down at the same time for a few seconds and it will light up searching for a Bluetooth signal.
Also, Steam supports this controller quite nicely. You might need 3rd party software to get it to work with some non-Steam games, BUT you can add those games to your Steam library and get the full functionality and customization of the controller by doing that. I also found that by adding the Epic Games Launcher to my Steam library, I could get games like Elite Dangerous which use their own secondary launcher to also work with this controller, since ED doesn't support the PS5 controller, and Epic Games has zero controller support (and still wanna compete with Steam somehow lmao).
TL;DR Get this controller if you want something extremely nice but don't wanna shell out the money for the Astro C40 or the Xbox Elite, just make sure you buy a USB-C charging cable or you know, own a modern Android phone.
The original white duelscense PS5 controller felt great, but wouldn't be awesome if it came in black. It finally did, and it feels just as good as the original white one, and I didn't need to worry that white eventually fades to yellow as black stays black. It even has those tiny playstation button textures in the back for the grip, so I don't need to add those silicon controller wrappers. Good job Sony, you delivered, all that's left is to make it on sale, so more people can afford it. Sadly, there's still a storage for PS5, but it still works great as a PC controller.
I love the way this fits in the hand. I've always preferred DS4s over Xbox controllers for joystick and button placement but enjoyed the thickness an Xbox controller offered. This isn't that thick but is a bit bigger and rounded out so it's the best of both worlds, in my option. Everything is super responsive and smooth and the variations in rumble are fun vs. the on or off of the DS4.
The midnight black duelsense is just stunning! The duelsense's engrave surface is a magnet to dirt, they are not so notable on black ones. Yes, I know the dirt is still there but its like the saying 'out of sight, out of mind'. I knock 1 star off because Sony could fix the knowing flimsy trigger spring issue with this new color release but they didn't, it is a missed opportunity.
Who can actually successfully buy a PS5 in 2021?? Not me. So I bought this to use with Steam on my PC. It's more comfortable than the PS4 controller it is replacing, and Steam configures with it fine. I use it hardwired with a USBC/USB3 cable, but getting one that worked required an investment, the cheaper USBC/USB2 cables do not work right.
One of my first controllers ended up with stick drift so had to get this one to replace it. Gets the job done. Hoping there's no drift issues with this, so far so good :) but yeah nothing else to add because it's the same as the original controllers that ship with the PS5, just different visual design is all.
