The TRUTH about the fingerprint reader

The fingerprint reader DOES work BUT here's how. You have options, the method my mother used and the method I used. We both got this exact cover.

Mine: I got the screen protector, put it on, loved it, and was then hurt when it wouldn't scan my finger. I almost pulled it off in fury! But what I tried was to change the sensitivity (a basic step as all screen protectors need that) then I went in and deleted my registered prints and tried to add them again. It was a pain in the ass!! You have to try like 5million times as it tells you "harder" like an unsatisfied partner!... but eventually it will start to read it. Down side for me is I had 3 prints in for the various way I pick up my phone, and the madness starts fresh for EVERY print you add. Smash and smash and smash your finger against the screen until it picks it up. I believe what it's doing is expecting you to correct the issue, and after a while just adapting to you some. Bc yes after the print FINALLY registers, it reads pretty easy. But at first its a little stubborn. Taking 1 or 2 tries to read, but after a few unlocks (maybe a typical days worth of use) it gets used to that as well and adjusts making it read like normal...

My moms method: so the principle behind this is the same, just in reverse. It adapts to the wrong inputs when they are consistent. So her prints were in before hand and she didn't remove them. She just fought with the reader to unlock her phone for a while. And just like with adding them, it will meet you in the middle after a while. It takes a little longer but is less annoying for some than fighting to get the consecutive presses for a new print to add. I still wouldn't buy this again but really it seems that ALL protectors have this issue in my search. They all claim to work and reviews say that's a dirty lie... And I hate the protectors with the hole in them 😒. Even their temporary cover from purchasing the phone new had a hole... So I dont think they expected us to cover it..... In the end I blame Samsung.

How i got my fingerprint scan to work

So I followed the instructions left by the one reviewer that mentioned his mom. I was able to add a new print no problem. But none of my apps would read it nor would it unlock my phone. So I went in to add another scan of my fingerprint BUT this time after every scan I used the included cleaning cloth to wipe off the print reader. Scan print, clean, scan print, clean until I got it to 100%. I did change sensitivity like instructions said to and locked my phone to test it. I barely had to press and it immediately unlocked. Went to an app I use that I solely use my print for access and this time I had zero issues getting in. Those that are having issues may want to try this method to see if it'll work for you.

Fingerprint and camera review

For the fingerprint, I did have difficulty with my finger reading the screen at first. I don't know how most people register their fingerprints but since there are only 4 slots and I use both my thumbs and pointer fingers that leaves little configurations for different angles when holding the phone to read the thumbprint. So when I configure my fingerprint I like to scan my whole fingerprint kind of like how you would do a live screen fingerprint testing. What worked for me in the end after rescanning, re-testing the fingerprint lock was to pick the angle you want to unlock your screen and press really hard, even using the other hand for pressure to register. If the reader said please move your thumb to get a new reading I would place it exactly the same while moving it by a centimeter of a difference just to really register that damn thumbprint into the configuration. After doing this with all fingers I wanted to register I kept unlocking my phone to ensure it worked. I do need to use more pressure when pressing down because the screen protector is thick, but I am able to get into my phone 85% of the time on the first try, and 95% of the time on the second try. Compared to the other protectors I tried and the reviews on other protectors I am happy that this works which mean less time wasted trying out new protectors!

As for the camera protector, it's good, nice thickness to it, but the main problem was the flash for me. It gives a blueish tint to any photos taken in the light or the dark. Since I don't usually use flash, this is not so much a problem for me since I just wanted a protector for my camera. But it is annoying knowing that I can't use the flash unless I remove it. Also, the one I received is different from the one displayed it's a full cover with 2 cut-outs instead of having that slight opening as seen on the displayed pictures.

Fail!

I was impressed with the product description and the installation video but disappointed in the actual product. I followed the video to the T, but still encountered problems.
1. The product is missing the additional dust strips, thus only providing 1 for both the front screen and camera.
2. The top guard bezel for installation was just a tad too small for the phone and thus misaligned the glass to my screen.
3. The rubber squeegee is actually just cardboard with fabric and didn't hold up too well when applying pressure to the glass.
4. The adhesive on the sides, top and bottom won't adhere, allowing dust.
5. The biggest problem is the fingerprint scanner does not work. The package came with quick fix problem solving guide for this, which again I followed. Unfortunately, the instructions say to add a new fingerprint but not delete the existing fingerprint....but the phone won't recognize the finger when trying to add.

Unfortunately this is a fail. Good idea but didn't work.

Don't Waste Your Money

Do NOT buy this if you use your fingerprint to open your device. This is an excellent screen protector. Installation is tricky though and I didn't get it right until my second try. Thank goodness it came with two protectors. It is a solid screen protector but even if you follow their pre written instructions to a T it doesn't change a thing. The phone also will not read your fingerprint no matter how hard you try. I ended up having to set up facial recognition which is something I didn't want to do but if it keeps my phone safe then so be it. I guess the good out weighs the bad in this situation. Applying the protector is easy but getting the air bubbles out is not. If you struggle to get all the bubbles out I would recommend ditching the stupid squeegee and use your fingers. If you press down on the air bubble with your fingers it will move right on out unless you missed some lint in there. I would rate this product a 3 out of 10. The fingerprint was a huge bummer for me. Another downer was that it doesn't cover the entire screen. This package comes with two of everything except the squeege but it took me using both screen protectors to get it on right and it wasn't a user error. I have previously applied several of these with no issues.. All in all this makes it a huge downer for me. At the end if the day I don't feel like this is worth what you pay. You think you are getting a great deal but in reality you are getting a one time use product. I am totally disappointed.

Creates gap at bottom of the screen

Finger print will work but it's harder to get a confirmed fingerprint read than without screen protector. Usually takes 3-4 tries. [UPDATE I wanted to report back that I had better luck with the finger print sensor when I deleted all finger prints after applying the screen protector and re-registered new finger prints? Seems odd and contrary to other advice, but is working for me.]

The mounting template works well... Installation was easy however the protector just covers to the bottom of the screen area... Not the bottom of the phone which creates a gap and sharp edge between the edge of the case and the screen protector which snags my finger and stylus when I sweep up. So I guess it depends on the case and your preferences.

Easy to install screen protector!

I bought this screen protector because it was a good price and had a protector for the camera lens. It wasn't the least expensive but wasn't the most expensive either. It installed easily, although, as careful as I was, it seemed to have a bit of dust or something on the sticky side when I put it on first time. I used the dust remover to take care of that, and we were good to go. The guide frame is awesome, helped considerably. The protector doesn't effect the touch at all. The screen feels just as slick as it did before I put it on, and works perfectly. I'm typing this review on the phone. No problem. I haven't yet set up the fingerprint reader on this phone, so can't speak to that, but don't see that being a problem.

If I have issues with it later, I will certainly come back and revise my review.

Super easy to install. Can't even tell its on my phone! Hopefully it lasts longer than the one I got from tmobile that cost $40. I love that the camera now also has an extra layer of protection. Edges blend nicely vs some other cheaper ones I've bought in the past. Definitely will order these again if needed! They also gave instructions with getting the sensitivity on the phone to make sure finger print reader works

I ordered this because it said "4 pack" I didn't finish reading the entire title. So I was a little disappointed that there were only 2 protectors for the screen and the camera. Needs to be reworded a bit differently.

On that note, they were easy to apply and very clear. I am happy with the product, however trying to get the fingerprint scanner to work was a little hard to do; my daughter worked at Sprint for awhile and she said that these phones (Samsung Note 20) had the same problem with any glass protector. That doesn't really bother me, it's still functional for everything else and feel good about using the S-Pen with it. I did have a tiny issue with the 'dust remover' leaving a tiny bit of the stickiness, but that was easily cleaned up with the alcohol pad.
