I've revised my review to 3 stars, down from 5 stars. After initially being able to use the R2 dashcam with the SanDisk ExtremePro U3, their fasted microSD, the R2 stopped recording, and says that the card it too slow! The only card I could find with the proper specs were either normal sized SD card, or the Rove microSD. In other words, they force you to buy/use their Rove branded microSD, period. You might as well include a microSD for a small increased fee.
But I will include my previous review, unedited here, because it otherwise has been a good product until it the SD card BS:
The Rove R2 has been easy to use and install! It does require a microSD at U3 speed (edit: and C10, so you are forced to get the Rove microSD), and this is mentioned, but I think should be front and center in their description. Luckily I had a U3 card, taken out of my 360 camera (edit: it no longer records on SanDisk ExtremePRO U3).
Great standard functions for this camera, 4K is at 24fps, while 2K and lower can be set at 30fps or higher (1080p at 60fps etc).
The wiring and install kit is easy to use, I was nervous that I would need to call my mechanic for a more professional install, but I did it myself with no problem! (In a Hyundai Tucson).
The screen is best viewed head on, and unfortunately viewing it from a slightly left position makes it a bit hard to see. Viewing it from the right side however is decent. So when positioning the camera next to your rear view mirror, it'll be a bit hard to see the screen from the driver's side (left side in NA).
Got this on a lightning deal, but would recommend it also at its full price!
