The author is a very good writer! Her descriptions of the characters, allows us to visualize them. This love story happens between Cat and Luca, a golden couple who look as though they should be together. They are both rare and beautiful in their own way as well as together, as a couple. Together they are blessed! Not so much if they're not together. I recommend this novel.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "THE RECLUSE HEIR". This is a Dark Mafia Romance full of intrigue, humor, arranged marriage, dark past with physical abuse, scares, betrayal, it grabs you from the start a very addicting read to the end.
Luca Lupu second son in Lupu Mafia family refused to be in an arranged marriage with a Rival Mafia Family the Popescu's Princess let his younger brother Nicu do it he calls him the family lapdog but at the engagement party he sees Catalina Popescu she beautiful he knows he's made a terrible mistake he has to figure out how change the situation.
When Cat sees Nicu's brother Luca at the engagement party he's the one who rejected her but that was before he met her she very attracted to him but she'll do anything for her famiily if she has to marry Nicu she'll do it even though Luca's all she can think about.
I loved the chemistry between Luca & Cat their banter back & forth so hot, suggestive, full of intense desire neither afraid to show how they feel they were great together some hot funny moments, a rocky start, the rejection still lingered in her mind, things happened between these two, her family gets in the way she hates being used a pawn but she'll do it for her brother.
I definitely recommend to get this book a very enjoyable read Luca & Cat's journey to get their HEA comes with alot of bumps in the road a few twists & surprises along the way but so well worth the read I'm looking forward to next book "THE SAVAGE HEIR" Nicu & Jewel's story.

Loved Cat as the Strong Female Lead

I absolutely fell in love with Luca and Cat! They are a match made in Romanian heaven.

Catalina may be a mafie princess and hold her family to the highest respect, but she is far more than a trophy wife. She has a head on her shoulders and wants to give back to the world some way. She is no where near ready to fall in line as the wife of Nicu Lupu. She may agree to her arranged marriage but God only knows how she is going to resist her fiancé's brother, even if he once rejected her.

Luca rejected her but that was before he ever met her. Now she is all he can think about, and the work MINE just won't seem to leave his mind. Somehow he has to turn the tables and have this woman for his own.

I love the banter between this pair. It is hot, suggestive, and full of desire. Neither one is afraid to put it all out there. Their story is filled with passion and angst. It is the kind of book you can't put down as you get pulled into their world by Luca's possessiveness and dirty mouth and Cat's innocence. My heart was broken a few times but I made it through and can't wait to watch Nicu fall in book 3.

This was an okay read for me. The characters had a decent amount of chemistry - there was a mixture of really good smut and times when the dirty talk was a little cringe. I liked Luca for the most part he was really sweet and I’m a sucker for a tragic backstory but I didn’t really connect with the heroine - was a little too weak minded for me - definitely prefer strong kick-ass female leads. Overall I enjoyed reading this book but it won’t become a favourite.

I love this world that Monique Moreau has created. Her characters are well developed. She keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the story. This on features the second brother in the Lupu family, Luca. And the mafie princess from a lesser clan, Cat. She has been cloistered away from the day to day mafie life by bing sent to a remote private boarding school. So she is thrown for a loop to find out that at 18 she is contracted to marry into the leading clan. But it’s not that simple. First her father and brother tried to trick the sef, the head of the Lupu and leading clan, into the contract. But he found out and the deal was changed to the second son, Luca. But he refused so it was again changed to the third son, Niko. And all she wants is to go to college and be a normal girl. As you can guess she is not happy to be tossed around from man to man. This story is full of twists and turns. With lots of action and steamy romance. I’m definitely hooked on this series.

Again, as in book one, the storyline is very good. The characters are stellar. Confused by the h's father's lack of attitude regarding his consiliere and his son. And an inconsistency to me is how a gunshot wound to the back of the head can be passed off as self defense. This does not make sense.
There are also enough word errors to prove there is no editor nor proofreader. Renting is not the present participle of to rend. Rending is. Using thing for think, imaged for imagined, griping for gripping. Bell Hooks is a name and requires initial caps, not spelled entirely in lower case. These, plus others, plus missing words suggests an editing need.
I was disappointed not to get to see a big Romanian wedding, but would recommend this book based on the strength and thoughtfulness of the story despite its flaws.

This is very good writing with a believable plot that was easy to digest. It captivated my attention pretty quick. While reading the first 10 chapters, I was afraid it was gonna be about Luca and Cat dancing around their attraction throughout most of the book and nothing happening until the last paragraph of the last chapter, then boom! Rainbows and roses. Wrong. MM lays out a succinct, detailed foundation without dragging it out. She acquaints and connects the reader to each character personalities. Serious drama and sexual tension really picks up by ch 11 with a few twists. She conveys the Romanian Mafie, the strong and proud family traditions and values, and how important they are to maintain and hold. The only negative was how weak and pliable Cat was, especially after the big showdown. She kept making one colossal mistake after another, never learning from them. I forgave her this weakness because she’s a pliable, easily manipulated eighteen y/o who’s been separated from her family; away at boarding school for the past six years. She’s an impressionable, biddable product of her Romanian Mafie environment…ie; women being subservient to Mafie men, doing as they’re told and staying out of the mens’ business. Not until the final two chapters did Cat finally stand up and grow a backbone, defying traditions. I enjoyed the sweet, romantic anticipation of new, blossoming love in the midst of the suspenseful politics of a crime family. This had an actual story and wasn’t bombarded with sex.

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a mafia romance with lots of heart and seduction as they make their way to a happily ever after.

First time reading anything from this author but will definitely be checking out more! Loved the slow burn build up of explosive chemistry between Luca and Cat.

Luca is a rebel whose immediate reaction is to defy rules and authority, which included rejecting marrying Cat (before even meeting her). Cat is a smart woman with interest in academics but willing to go through with the responsibilty of the mafie life of an arranged marriage. But when the 2 meet without knowing who the other is, the instant reaction they have to each other is explosive! Will the 2 fight for each other or will the responsibility of family get in the way?

Enjoyed the story which flowed well and was steamy and sexy. There is grit but not too much violence so it's quite a light mafia (mafie) story that focuses more on family, responsibily and love.
