So here’s my thoughts.. I have a bunch of these in my house(4 total) learned to love them.. how easy they are to install.. many types of setups you can do etc.
The bad.. they are sharp.. my 7 year old walked through one and somehow scratched up his arm pit. No idea how but now I am cautious about them and in the process of figuring out how to make them all safer.. the edge corner right where the latch meets the gate when closing is sharp. Makes me panic that it’s possible little guy will scratch himself as well. Otherwise these gates are really promising
It’s definitely a Hate Love relationship right now.

the assembly is easy enough, no issues there. We are putting this gate on metal fences (sturdy fence) so we cant use the screw plugs, and we're using just the pressure mounts. They are absolutely useless. They come with a slipper plastic soft coating that slides off, even without the coating which we removed the gate pretty much bends inwards/outwards when you try to tighten the pressure too much. Without pressure it simply falls, with pressure it bends. Our 12 month old baby was able to push the gate off in 3 seconds. the way the locking mechanism is built is pretty bad, its all plastic and doesnt work eveyr well if you tighten the gate too much. Its a complicated lock for a baby to open- ill give them that, but consdering how badly the gate holds up i find the locking mechanism unecessary since the gate can barley hold its own. VERY DANGEROUS AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CHEAP THING TO ANYONE!

It’s a great gate! If installed correctly it’s sturdy and reliable. I took away one star, because I wish they had been more clear that to use this gate in a stairway you will need to screw 4 caps into the wall to secure it. We wanted to avoid making holes in the wall, but safety was most important.

Decent enough safety gate, especially for the price. Keep in mind that the metal bar that always remains on the bottom is a tripping hazard, so wouldn't use it at the top of the stairs. Also, if you're not going to screw in the cups into the wall, don't expect the gate to remain in place, as the rubber pads slide around a medium amount of force (enough so that kids might be able to move it if they really try).

Installation wasn't difficult but wasn't easy either - you have to find a balance between tightening the left and right pads on the top, otherwise the gate will catch on the bottom bar. That said, no tools are necessary beyond a screwdriver and it was easy to figure out how it goes together.

Probably fine for small dogs and cats, NOT toddlers. The metal feels really lightweight, the locking mechanism is very awkward and hard to engage if you want to keep the gate securely and tightly fashioned (which you presumably do) it doesn’t take a lot of pressure to knock the gate off, a determined toddler could push hard against it a few times and go tumbling down the stairs.

An adult who didn’t understand how to work the locking mechanism resulted it in going tumbling down the a concrete staircase. Back it went to Amazon.

This is not suitable as a pressure-mounted gate for tots safety from staircases, maybe if you only want to keep them out of a certain room it would be fine but it’s not to be trusted around stairs.

I bought this for the top of a few stairs, in my home daycare, to avoid children getting up the larger sets of stairs in each direction. It was easy to install and sturdy. I assumed with it being used near stairs, it would have to be screwed in, which wasn’t an issue. But I will say, the bottom bar, and slim opening does pose an issue, especially near stairs when people aren’t paying attention. It’s also super easy for anyone above 2 years old to open (which again, not an issue, as I’m using it to keep infants safe, and not older kids).. my cat and dog also cannot pass it, so it’s great in that aspect. I gave it 4 stars only for the tripping hazard, and easy opening for kids. Quality is decent, and I’d recommend it for 2 and under, and pets.

I’ve bought three of these- you can’t beat the price for the quality of the gate. My two-year-old can easily open it, which for me is fine because it’s the crawling baby & the dog that I’m trying to contain, but for others it might be a problem. Very easy to install, fairly sturdy when installed tightly to the wall using pressure only, would be extremely sturdy if you used the included screw-in wall attachments. I like that it’s silent to open/close if you control the grey locking mechanism’s spring retraction. My one complaint/thing I would change: I wish it had the option to swing both ways! But overall I’m pleased with this gate.

I thought this gate had 3 different parts that detached. Which would make sense for it to fit a variety of spaces and still have an adequate amount of pressure for mounting. Sadly it was only ONE 3 bar attachment piece which was an inch too big for my opening. So I had to install it without the attachment as there was no other option. I had to stretch the screws as long as they would go on all sides which makes it a bit flimsy if my son were to slam against the gate. Where the screws are bends if you push hard. I'm also upset it said if you use it at the top of stair you mist SCREW in parts to the mall. The whole reason I bought this was so I wouldn't have to make holes in my banister. Anyway it's a good thing my son is a good boy and listens well. He isn't rough and won't slam into the gate. I also have a landing space at the top of my stairs and then the gate.
