These boots are lovely. Quality of the leather is incredible... which is why I decided to take a chance even after I tried em on and couldn’t zip them up all the way. As the pictures show, my gamble paid off because after 2 weeks ;) I can put them on properly and they look as they should. With a bit more wear, I’ll be able to wear thin leggings with my new boots!
Here are the details; I hope it helps you make a decision:
-I have a high instep
-I have a smallish foot, 7.5
-I have extra large calves, 18 inch circumference, with thick ankles
So as previous reviews eluded, the shaft is too narrow for my short tree trunks. The opening is 18” but below the opening (~4 to 6 inch down), the shaft was about 2.5 to 3 “ too small. I did the following to stretch those areas out 2.5-3 inch wider:
1. I used pickle jars, face clothes and a set a boot shapers made out 0.5” foam to slowly stetch out the shaft in key areas. The boot shaper ensure that the leather didn’t become deformed (placed against the inside of the shaft) while the rest (place inside the shaper) applied pressure to stetch the leather evenly.
2. Every 2 days I would try on the boots and re-adjust as needed
3. I started with the lowest area on the shaft that needed stretching and move up until I had my desired results
