5.0 out of 5 stars Sunshine and Self-Compassion
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on June 27, 2021
Last month I attended an Early Childhood Educator Conference (Heart, Hands & Mind) and Lisa Baylis was the Keynote Speaker. I preordered her book, Self-Compassion for Educators, from Amazon that afternoon after hearing Lisa speak.

This past week I graduated from the Early Childhood Education & Care Diploma program through Vancouver Island University. You would think after two years of full time University that I would want a break from reading. Nope! I am diving deep into this book- I’m highlighting words, sentences and quotes and I am only in the Introduction of her book. As a very recent University graduate, and in my opinion, this book should be a required reading/text book in any course for Educators. As Lisa says, “we need to focus on our well-being from a place of mindfulness and self-compassion” and “in mindfulness and meditation, an anchor is something we use to bring us back to the present moment. The mind needs an anchor.”

Now take a big deep breath, exhale and say that again, “the mind needs an anchor”.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is the reminder to be kind to yourself !
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on November 24, 2021
This book is such a gem! Every educator, mother or anyone who works with children would benefit greatly from all the insights, research and reminders for self-compassion! Thank you Lisa Baylis for writing these words, often when giving to others, we forget to be loving and kind to ourselves! A great read with reflective practices.
