As I mentioned on previous reviews, Mr. Willmarth has become one of my favorite authors in this genre, with innovative and diverse stories to share all tastes.
And while this one doesn't disappoint, one of my favorite parts from it is the "fast forwards" to the interesting bits, bypassing the grind periods with enough info to move the story forward without sacrificing pace.
From what I hear, book 3 is releasing relatively soon, so great news all around.

The human race has become nearly extinct.
Allistor and his small group push to make themselves stronger, fighting to survive the year-long stabilization.
Forced to battle increasingly stronger and more deadly monsters, they work to expand their holdings, learn better spells, and gather resources to improve their crafting.
Dungeons must be cleared, and dragons defeated. Fellow survivors are found - some friendly, some hostile.
Allistor considers every human life precious, but when it becomes a case of kill or be killed, hard choices must be made.
And each day brings them closer to the invasion of Earth.

These books have been highly entertaining. I haven't put either down, so much so that I've been ignoring other things to consume them.
A likable main character, if you're into pragmatic greater good types, which I am. Supporting cast is diverse, though decidedly leans towards an abundance of women.
All in all, a new series that I will be following closely to read the next one as soon as it drops.

The older I get the more rare it is that I find a story which I wish to join, to be part of. This is one such story. Mr. Willmarth does a tremendous job of blending action, humor, loss, optimism, and the drive to improve, to move forward. There's something special about a story when I'm reading it worried that I'm running out of story to read.

Well thought out, interesting take on the end of the world but with a hint of hope
Can't wait to read the further adventures.

Solid book, good character development. MC behaves believably though less credit is given to others. Skill system interesting though could be more developed.

This story was a fantastic follow-up to the first book. I enjoyed every moment of adventure, the character development and world building is solid. I can’t wait for the next book.

And Bob is in it! Haha that was good and unexpected. The book had a great forward momentum and kept me engaged. Looking forward to the rest of this series.

Fun read.

Nice read, but very uneven book. It have its glorious moments along with tedious and boring ones. Especially bad is forced humour that is very repetitive. Author needs a professional editor to stop him from from making 70%of the title consist of adventure/fight/comedic relief(with silly bear),rinse and repeat, feels a bit like few ahort stories glued together. Book is strong in YA theme, and a bit naive so if youre looking for some grim/grit read don't bother. Characters are basically a definition of 2D,and avoid thinking like plague.

Interesting but some flaws

I enjoyed this book but there were some issues. The mechanics has several issues, for example titles and pistols still work so it is not clear why anyone would want to use a sword. The MC worries about Loyalty and is given an ability to detect lies and then never used it.
It did pull me on however and I may well read book 3.

An excellent second jaunt in this world
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on August 5, 2019Verified Purchase
I quite enjoyed the first book in the series, but the second book takes the world and expands upon it.
I really enjoy the world that has been put together, and the MC Faces realistic challenges and overcomes them in realistic ways, with expected losses.
Aside from the whole land assigning oddity, which has a few world implications, it felt an excellent book, and an amazing second book.
I'd recommend people pick it up right away.

I had high hopes for this book based on the first one and those hopes were fulfilled!
Great character and tech tree development and unlike a lot of litrpg books out there the page count from each of the books in this series has been wonderful - this one took my three days to read which is about twice the normal amount of time a book does - so much content that it is more than worth the cost of buying a copy.
Now I eagerly await the third one!

Brilliant, again.

Expands the story arc well with only one very, minor point. The author jumped from detailing almost every day in exquisite detail, to a chapter or so that covered months. Caught me out somewhat, but did not in any way spoil the book.
The bit at the end was superbly humerous and shows that the author reads Chatfield. Well done and somewhat sneaky and thought provoking.
