Compared to the previous books this lacks something, Cole in a cook house took far too many pages and to be honest I skipped them.

I think what was missing here was the lack of depth in the enemy sniper, and the whole cook house thing should be reworked.

Still (once past the cook house) a nice evenings easy read.

I enjoyed Sniper Ridge and all of Mr Healey books as in Cake Cole he has captured the independence of the Tennessee woodsman as described by Louis L'Amour and brought him into the most bloody conflicts 20th century in the vein of Stephen Hunters Swagger family. Mr Healey weaves these characters into the historical battles of the time and in this 7th book captures the pain and desperation of the Korean stalemate.

Having read or listened to all 9 of the Caje Cole series books, Sniper Ridge is, in my opinion, the least by far of them all. While the story line was very similar to the other 8, it seemed that the author spent a LOT of time fluffing the story with extra, unnecessary, and often unrelated narrative. The story itself was about 1/3 what was written - the rest was simply filler. Something I'm not used to seeing with this author.
A decent read, although the editing was weak at times, but overall somewhat disappointing and at times very tiresome.

It has been a very long time since I picked up a book that has captivated my imagination in the same way that this book on the Korean Conflict has done so. I simply cannot put this small novel down ( it is only a couple of hundred pages long ). If it keeps up this pace I shall need to buy more again before we leave for PARIS. I bought three different titles from this author. If you are into Conflict books and the resolution of that sort of thing then these novels are really going to be for you.

I've read the WW2 series and now this Korean version. Both are very good and from what I've read about the Korean war, quite accurate. Okay, there are a few technical dependencies but for the uninformed reader, who cares. But it is interesting to read reviews about mistakes. What I like about the authors writing style is that I can pick up the book, at any time, and read a few pages or a whole chapter. There are enough breaks in the story to allow this type of reading.
