Don't know how there was no water in it Learned my lesson, no more fake metal - steel or brass from here on out. I gave a couple stars because it's probably fine if you live where it doesn't freeze in the winter let alone -30C

The last lightweight splitter we had broke off at the connector last fall after only 2 seasons of use. So I had just recently purchased a new one this spring, and it ended up costing more than what this solid/durable one-piece one lists for. I think this is a bargain considering the quality! I would have bought this kind at the hardware store but they seem to be difficult to find anymore. Amazon to the rescue! This is exactly what I was looking for.
This is a very solid splitter. I especially like that the on/off levers are metal and not plastic because those can sometimes break off rendering the splitter partially useless. I suspect these levers will last. I also like that it came with 5 rubber washers. I'll update if I have any problems with it over time, but I really don't expect that. I've shown in the photos the good quality construction and design.
Just a note on the operation: the on/off levers were very hard to move the first time. I had to give them a really hard twist to get them going, but once they came unstuck, they operate very smoothly.
