This is my favorite book of the series so far. We have the adventure of the town of Sugar Maple, Vermont having disappeared and requiring Chloe to figure out how to 'find' it again. Being half human and half sorceress, Chloe is still in infancy as to her growing powers.
Luke, Chloe's human love and her best friend, Witch Janice must join their strengths for the battle of their lives. Janice has the most to loose, in that her husband and children are still in the lost town.
This book told us a lot about the history of Salem, Mass, and a lot about knitting. I felt a bit disconnected with the knitting. I love the talent but must admit that I do not understand the terms and patterns etc. It makes me want to learn how to knit, I must admit.
The mystery of the history of the towns was presented so well. I find myself wanting to live in Sugar Maple myself. I look forward to the next installment.
I love these characters and the battle for the town of Sugar Maple! The magick is flowing wild and furrocious in this volume! Great laughs, deep fear, and edge of my seat moments kept this one rolling to its excellent conclusion!
Having just finished the 3rd book in the series about Sugar Maple, Vermont; Spun by Sorcery I have to say that this is a MUST READ for the series. A lot of pesky questions regarding Chloe Hobbs past are answered and our beloved heroin saves the day once again by saving her beloved Sugar Grove. You get to meet many of her relatives and find out how Sugar Grove came into being as well. There are battles to be fought and won, friendships to be cemented as well as plenty of love lessons in this book. A most pleasurable, page turner that I couldn't put down ! Treat yourself to a fabulous interlude, dive back into the wonderful world Ms. Bretton creates so well for us. And best of all, there is a part 4 !! Kudos Ms. Bretton for another hit !
This book was a little different than the first 2. But still a great story. I enjoyed the way the author gave us a glimpse into the background of Sugar Maple and how it all came to be. Some of my questions were answered in this book. For instance, why the Fae aren't always nice. There were a few times though that I found myself missing the comedy relief of the town folk of Sugar Maple. But all in all, it was a quick and fun read.
Not so much on this one. I just found it juvenille and unbelievable. It had such a great story line, with Chloe meeting Solomon and getting the history on how Sugar Maple was founded. Then the "battle" at the end was like something a teenager would write. I don't even get it. The first two books were excellent, but this one really leaves me feeling irritated. I will probably read the next one, but hope it's better--I don't think it could be worse.
There were some great scenes and history in this book, I just don't know what the author was thinking at the end. It seemed so stupid - like maybe she was rushed because none of it made sense. I feel like Chloe turned into an idiot, and a not very bright one at that. It was just a huge letdown.
Barbara Bretton has once again outdone herself with "Spun By Sorcery" in the Sugar Maple Chronicles, Book 3. As with the other 2 books in the Chronicles, Barbara kept my attention from the first page and continue through the end of the book. If you haven't read these books and you love knitting or anything fiber-related as well as a bit of magic, you will love these books.
I found the first book for free at local library and was hooked on the story so of course had to go to amazon and see if next book was available turns out there was four all together so I ordered all them! Very happy with this order!
