The intentional design flaw in the controller just so amazon can push the sale of batteries and charging accessories like Nintendo is very very disappointing, considering Nintendo did it right in that the controller can hold charge without having to open it every 2-5 hours.
Criticism:
1. If you plug the controller in you DO NOT charge the rechargeable batteries that are in the controller AND you lose about 17-30ms on latency by not using the controller on AA battery power.
2. The product claims to be for "on the go" thus the batteries... have you tried to use cellular data to stream a AAA title? I can't even watch YouTube on 3g much less stream a game when I go over my data limit in 30mins of playing Resident evil 3 lol.
3. Just like the title says, the USB port is not really for charging... it's for data. So surprise, that's why it's not charging your batteries.
4. Seriously? Data USB only? no internal battery? What is this 2001? Come on dude...
5. It's an alexa controller, the alexa feature you will never use... id rather an internal battery, but thank you....
"alexa, start one of the 5 games i have access to with my prime membership that im literally looking at right now because i have to be in the app to even use you..."
priced the same as a ps5 controller without any of the cool tech the ps5 controller has.. just alexa, half the battery life of a switch remote and a data only USB port for a wireless, systemless, gaming experience.....what?
6. If you don't have any batteries inside the controller (which you shouldn't if they are dead) get ready for the most hollow feeling on the back of that controller (Xbox users know what I'm talking about, yup we went back to 2001 boys)
7. You can't play Amazon's own games on it and it's been like 2 years... I throw up in my mouth whenever I think about this.
Verdict:
The battery situation is such a turn off, controller feels nice in your hands, rumble pack feels cheap, sticks are stiff, Alexa, can't use be used with other devices outside of the app, can't even use it with you fire stick.
With so many limitations and so little uses this gets a hard 2/5, if it was priced more appropriately and had more practical Q&A that wasn't all tailored to how to buy ubisoft games... (which you can't even do through the actual app btw which is hilarious....) it would be easier to be nicer. But it's not so 2/5, not good Amazon 👎

The joysticks are weirdly hollow so thumbs never really fit comfortably. For me, that’s a deal breaker.
Other than that it’s a good controller, the analog triggers are nice, but overall it’s certainly not better than those of the Xbox, PlayStation or Switch.
It’s also a little overpriced since you can get similar chinese controllers for 20-30$.
