Collects Star Brand #1-10, Annual #1 and Spitfire and the Troubleshooters #5.
There is one weapon in the galaxy more powerful than all others. Nothing is more coveted or feared, loved or hated. To dare possess it makes you a fool or madman — or, quite possibly, the right man! A mysterious encounter with an old stranger is about to leave Ken Connell as the latest to wield the power of the Star Brand! With this incredible tattoo come staggering abilities: flight, strength, near-invulnerability and the explosive force of an atom bomb. But it also attracts enemies: aliens seeking to claim the Star Brand for their own, nuke-toting terrorists — even other adventurers from this New Universe, like the armored Spitfire! Ken Connell can't even be a good boyfriend — could he possibly have it in him to be a hero?

Marvels attempt at a real world 80s superman
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on November 30, 2022Verified Purchase
Enjoyed this slice of nostalgia there where a load of these in new universe some books good others forgettable this was marvel’s attempt to show what if a mere mortal got powers there was a flash in the sky people get wierd abilities but it was set in a more real world environment the other book I would recommend if they reprint it was justice it was a bit of a fantasy hero trying to fit into a world where not everything is black and white this is a story of Ken Connell a mechanic who is given the star brand the ultimate weapon in the universe it’s not quite that simple he’s not very heroic and a bit of a sleazy ladies man but he tries to do the right thing the book was one of those interconnected series with guest stars from other books always wanted a star brand tattoo

A great story with an interesting and realistic

A great story with an interesting and realistic, if horrible, protagonist, this comic gives a fantastic look into what would happen if people actually got superpowers in the real world.

This is a fantastic collection! I remember reading Star Brand back in the 80's when it was first published and really liking it. This is first time I've re-read the series since then and it's even better than I remember. Good story set outside the Marvel universe with solid art throughout. Hopefully they release Codename: Spitfire next.
