The pop culture references are still a plenty in the second installment, but they feel toned down from book one. That said, what is it with Urban Fantasy authors and having their heroes shout random geek references during battle. Buthcher's magician, Hearn's druid, and now Ross' sentinel.

I'm sure there's plenty of reviews on the general plot of the book by now, little late to this party, but glad to have discovered it none the less. By far, my favorite character is Lucifer. He's not the fire and brimstone caricature often depicted on screen, but something more akin to a Gaiman/Moffat love child. He's that friend of yours that you known for ever, you love to party with, but find yourself wondering how they got into the mess.their in now as you bail them out of jail.

I found the poor care taken with spelling to be distracting. A lazy dependence on spell check software. Sometimes the word is spelled ok but the context is not. At other times the word is spelled incorrectly regardless of context. When dealing with a skeleton how does a long oar or skinny boat have any relevance? I will try one more book.
