Ainsley Greenburg is a fixer. It’s what she prides herself on.
So when Ainsley realizes her marriage is at its breaking point, she makes a decision to repair it, no matter the cost. Approaching her husband to propose the arrangement is supposed to be the hard part, but Peter agrees to the salacious plan almost immediately.
The rules are simple:
- They will each date someone new once a week.
- They will never discuss what happens on the dates.
Soon, though, the rules are broken, turning terrible mistakes into unspeakable consequences.
When the only person they can count on to keep their darkest secret is each other, new questions and deceits surface. Can they truly trust the person they share a life with, or will the vicious lies that have mounted over the years destroy everything they’ve built?
Once, Peter and Ainsley vowed to stand together forever, but as they push boundaries of deception, suspicion, and temptation, each begins to wonder if ’til death do us part may come sooner than they’d intended.

I also find that there are too many sex scenes that while it makes sense just I find it hard to read them especially as I always look more for the action.
I wished for a quicker jump into the more thriller parts especially as the story had so much interest. If it was me I would have made the book a novella and cut out some of the extra parts as they don't always add to the story. Sometimes less is more.
I do think this was a solid read but I also believe that there were quite a few issues with the book. Sometimes the language didn't flow very well and seemed to be strained. I also wasn't fond of the dialogue as much as well which felt forced.
Now don't get me wrong the story was good and I think it has a great idea that was built on. The book also had good points as well the plot was well thought out and covered a lot of very interesting topics.
With work on the pacing of this book it would have brought it from a 4 Star solid read to a 5 Star amazing read. I felt that this book while good with the extra little things this could have been amazing.
For me the characters are very important and I really enjoyed the characters. Ainsley was a fun time character for me. She was well written and I did enjoy seeing how she was portrayed. She was described as beautiful and it felt like she was way above what her husband Peter could get in his mind.
Peter was interesting and his lack of confidence with the opposite sex really jived with me because I could relate. I am not comfortable at times myself. Of the two characters I think Peter was the better one for me because he reminded me of me.
The story got much better after the crime occurred which was midway through the book however I did enjoy the first part as well but I think that this would have been more suitable to contemporary fiction.
Over all this book is interesting and is a mix of contemporary writing as well as a crime or thriller book. I didn't feel any of the suspense that I would normally feel with thrillers.
This book has been recommended multiple times in a psychological thriller group and I was hoping more for the aspects of thrillers that I love but this one just didn't feel like a thriller to me.
I am still happy I read this book as I enjoyed it and it was fairly quick to read this book. I really enjoyed the end which leaves open to more potential books later on
The end was a total surprise, can't wait to read more by this author

This book started off well. An intriguing idea and great for a plot. It started racheting up the tension and progressing well. However, two thirds through the book it just descended into purile nonsense and as for the ending - LOLOL it made me want to throw it right into the trash (except I have the kindle app on my phone so couldnt do that).
The story is about a woman who knows her husband is cheating so cooks up the idea of opening up their marriage and seeing other people so he could realise what he's missing. As the plot unravels it becomes clear she purposely engineers a situation where her husband commits the murder of one of her online dates so that they'll have something in common and she can control him to stay with her and not leave her or cheat on her.
Personally, I would have tried taking up a mutual hobby but hey ho, murder seems like a sensible idea right?
Not only that, it then comes out at the end that her husband is a dangerous serial rapist, she KNOWS this but STILL wants to be married to him. So, let me get this straight- him having affairs is a deal breaker for her but him being a serial rapist who murders vulnerable women is totes fine? Good grief- like I said, ridiculous.
I got what the author was trying to achieve with this book but for goodness sake, you can only stretch character credibility so far until it splits apart and causes the reader to lose all interest and emotional investment in the characters. A real shame as the dilemma created in the first few chapters had massive potential for a gripping dramatic story. I'm giving it three stars as it started well then devolved into pantomine.

Im a new kind of reader. I mean, of course ive read before but it takes a good book to get me intrigued. Well when this was delivered i thought id read a chapter and see what i thought. Let me tell you, I read half the book and struggled to put it down. I haven't heard of the author before but, that's no surprise I haven't heard of any author before unless its from one of the school books my kids bring home!
Im now at the point of not being able to wait to climb into bed at night and grab my book to read. If you're wondering if this book is for you, it is! It's exciting and you keeps you wanting to turn the page.
Great read!!
