The Kaiju Preservation Society is John Scalzi's first stand-alone adventure since the conclusion of his New York Times best-selling Interdependency trilogy.
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on.
What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, massive dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world. They're the universe's largest and most dangerous panda, and they're in trouble.
It's not just the Kaiju Preservation Society who's found their way to the alternate world. Others have, too. And their carelessness could cause millions back on our Earth to die.

Whenever I do immerse myself in his stories time flies and for a majority of those times I wonder why they haven't been turned into shows, as the descriptions and situations portrayed are so vivid and logically thought out that readers can easily put themselves right there and then within that very spot the characters find themselves.
In this day and age of bingeing, it's cruel to have to wait for the next installment at the turn of the last page waiting for the "and then?" to be answered.
Good on you Mr. Scalzi.
More please.

You could think that about "Dinos" it's all said, all removed. And then here comes Mr J.S. and throws this non stop adventure.
Good reading to have a good time, enjoy and overall to learn about Kaijus.
Final words: I'd really-really enjoy a film about this :)

John Scalzi is one of these authors who can create believable characters, good stories and working worlds while sneezing. Or so it appears. Regular authors would use all that for a book and a sequel and another sequel and a TV series and a movie, maybe a musical. And with Scalzi doing the writing, we'd probably buy and read it. No idea if he will, though, maybe he'll have to sneeze again.
Take this book as an enjoyable joyride. It is. And I seriously wouldn't mind a sequel (or two or three and a movie.)
TLTR: New Scalzi, new world, new characters, very much worth reading.

O leitor tem facilidade não apenas em suspender a descrença, como se identificar com os personagens e com as situações descritas. Scalzi merece todo nosso apreço.
