I was drawn to this book based purely on the title. I was so eager to read it as my favourite movie genre is horror and my favourite movies are the Saw films. With this in my mind whilst reading the book, I found it slightly disappointing unfortunately. I thought the characters were well written and the plot line good. I personally would have preferred a bit more detail in "the games" and there was no shock value to the conclusion. I did find myself rushing to finish it but was very disappointed with the ending

Wow. What an incredible book, I couldn't put it down and completely devoured it in one sitting! I do not usually leave reviews unless I am blown away, and every single book by Darren O'Sullivan has certainly done that. He is fast becoming a favourite author of mine and I have read all of his books in the space of a week! The twists are amazing and keep you guessing with a thirst for more information.
The characters from previous books have become the main characters in this storyline, fueling a further bond between reader and character. The story line was fast paced and made you really think about what you would do if you were in the characters shoes and relates to issues that society and social media are causing at present. I cannot wait to see what Darren O'Sullivan produces next!

Fast becoming one of my favourite authors, that I probably wouldn’t have had the luxury of finding if it wasn’t for my book club. I love how he took a secondary character in a previous book and made DI Holt the focus in this. And what he done with The Host was beautiful. Really makes you question... what would you do?

Absolutely breathtaking writing from an awesome master of the thriller. Completely unputdownable and utterly captivating. Pulled me in at the first word and spat me out, completely spent, at the last.
Darren’s writing is beautifully descriptive to the point of me being able to feel I’m in the room with The Host and his unwitting Players (not a comfortable place to be).
I have never felt sorry for a protagonist before but this story genuinely has you feeling a hundred and one emotions and questioning how you would react in the situation.
I cannot wait for the next rollercoaster ride. Hurry up Darren - get writing!!

Devoured this over a weekend, thrilling as hell. Paced beautifully, just the right amount of dangling clues, and really clever twists. Believable characters and the concept is so very close to "now" it puts you in the mind of black mirror, an entirely possible distopia that we are perhaps already on the cusp of.

Very very accurate descriptions of panic attacks - for me just added to the sense of peril for the main character.

Highly recommended!
