2.0 out of 5 stars Clamp broke on the first teip
By Brenda Louise Putnam on September 25, 2021
Update Thule has been very responsive to my warranty request. They are sending a replacement part and offered to cover damages. Despite the first trip problems we will continue to use this rack with additional strapping. Loved that this product came assembled! The ramp is excellent, loading and unloading was easy.

I did not like that the clamp for the outside bike broke on our first trip resulting in the bike dragging, breaking the mirror and damaging our dog carrier.

I did like that the wheel strap held the bike on the carrier while it dragged on the road lessening the potential damage.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bike rack does not meet specification claims when used for e-bikes with fat tires
Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2020
It pains me to give Thule such a low review for this bike rack, but my observation is they missed the mark on what Thule is famous for; quality engineering. I bought the rack for two e-bikes and in particularly to accommodate the weight and tire size. My RadPower e-bikes are 65 lbs each and have 4”. Fat tires. The specifications claim up to 65lbs and tires up to 4.7”. Thule was selected for my new bike rack based on my experience with previous Thule racks I’ve owned for their thorough engineering.

The bike rack width is insufficient to accommodate my e-bikes without squeezing them together even though the tire width of 4” that is below the max designed width limit of 4.7”. To get the tires to be more on the rack than the edge, I put the first bike on, secure it. I put the second bike on and have someone lean the bike out, secure the wheels, and then squeeze it into the first bike and attach the clamp. The clamps do not appear to adequately attach to the bike frames and with the the bikes being squeezed together seems to increase the risk of the bikes breaking loose. I always add a security cable between bikes and the car. In the event something fails, the bikes will be dragged rather than hitting the car behind. For this rack, I will enhance the safety measures to mitigate what I feel is a greater risk with this Thule rack than other Thule racks I’ve owned. As for the weight, the size of the rack attachment to the hitch concerns me as well. The yield movement of the rack mount structure when I use the tilt feature to get into the back of the car is seemingly excessive. As a result, I remove the batteries, seats, and everything else easily removable to reduce the weight.

I like the concept of the design. It is a shame I have to use so many workarounds to be able use the bike rack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ebike and Fender friendly. 2 bikes only.
Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2018
I picked this up when it was 20% off. One of the few bicycle carriers that handles fender equipped bicycles and supports the weight of an ebike. That being said, it works great with the Raleigh Redux iE Stepover Medium size. The clamp is just big enough to secure the frame. It also folds up nice and compact, is lightweight, installs/uninstalls without any tools, and has a fold up ramp for easier loading/unloading of bikes. The only real downside to this, no expansion capability.

To give you an idea of size folded, it’s about the size of a carry-on suitcase. So I tend to leave it in back of SUV to use when I need it.
