Excellent book if you want something concrete, action based to re route the habits which keep you stuck. The key is to not think nor analyze the tools too much. Just practice them, use them, over and over at the given cued circumstances. It helps to send you onto a positive trajectory, and getting on with your day/life.

Of course once you feel this works for you, then re read and see if the deeper meaning speaks to you. If not that's okay too, the tools work on their own to help you MOVE FORWARD, instead of going around in circles with analysis.

The practices in this book, while created by the authors, aren't "new". They are actually variants on spiritual practices that have been done for centuries, by Buddhists, Christians, and many other faiths. What the authors have done, and done very well, are pick the five most important, relevant and useful tools that everyone can use, in short periods of time, to break through the most difficult blocks that we all face at work, in our relationships, and in our own lives. It is a book that requires your participation, like any work of spirituality, because unless you are willing to get involved and test out ideas, they are useless. But, I can say from experience, these tools really will open you up to new possibilities in parts of your life that you thought were forever stuck, closed and just needed to be suffered though.

On the surface the book occurs as another gimmick to quick answers but in fact it takes you from what you 'think you know' to the wonderful domain of being 'don't know that I don't know', where all possibilities lie. I have the experience of truly knowing how to 'be' an active participant in my life. I found that this book is a no nonsense self help book. These guys have found ways to go directly to the problem. Usually you get endless bla bla bla with stories without end but this one is direct and to the point. I love that. Of course I still have some questions and would love to have a conversation with one of the authors about one of my personal problem that is not addressed here but hey if I work with this book like I thick I will do I should find many of my problèmes solved.

I love that they had Q&A for each section, which consists of questions/resistance that people may have. Most notably, the "Jeporady" section is invaluable because it addresses when we get over the novelty of trying new self-help tactics; it teaches us to maintain a habit on implementing the tools they've taught us.

This book is absolutely priceless. The information in this book is actually life changing! I have read again and again in books about why i have certain problems (childhood issues,trauma etc.) however after reading so many books on why I have certain problems that awareness was not helping me to change my behavior and patterns. Although I would read other books and try to change my 'attitude' I would feel like a new woman for a little while but as soon as I was triggered by an event in my life my reaction would be the same (negative) and I would end up with the same results in my life (disastrous) which would cause event after event to happen trying to show me things about myself; and my reactions would never change, I felt stuck and hopeless, going round and round and trying to change it was getting to a point i was feeling no hope at all.. One day I was in the library and something attracted me to this book, now without sounding over the top I can honestly say this book is BRILLIANT. It's a must read if you want to change your life. It doesn't go on and on about why you have certain problems (although it does briefly mention), it actually gives you actual TOOLS to do when your in certain situations. Honestly, the information in this book (on every page) is absolutely PRICELESS. Amazing. I'm incredibly grateful to the authors :)

I strongly advise anyone and everyone to read this book. I’m only sorry I didn’t get my hands on it 11 years ago when it first came out.

I’m already using the tools and I’m starting to see a difference. This is a book I will constantly consult and reread. The Netflix film is also a good companion to showing some of the Tools.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what unfolds now.

Only been using the tools for a week (worked my way through most of the book) but I'm already seeing and feeling the value of them. I've suffered depression and anxiety for many years and tried therapy and various self help books over those years without much success, that's mainly because they hardly ever give any practical advice. This book is almost like an instruction manual for the mind, it isn't a miracle cure and it's going to take some practice to get the best from it but I can say that it seems to be helping me more than anything else I've tried. You will need the willpower to keep practicing the techniques and a belief in something bigger than yourself, that could be the sun, the universe, or God if you are religious, it doesn't really specify and contrary to what some have said it doesn't promote any kind of belief system.
