Scorch Battle the brave stinger of Scorch the Scorpion. Your Pooch is sure to be pleased with this fun and adventurous toy! For interactive play with one or multiple dogs. Easy to toss and Floats! , soft edges won't hurt gums. Each Desert toy is made with 4 layers. 2 layers are made of industrial grade luggage material, 1 layer of plastic coating, and the other layer is made of soft fleece on the outside. All of these layers are sewn together to make one super strong layer of material. Each toy is sewn together with 2 layers of cross stitching and then 2 layers of linear stitching. After the toy is sewn together an additional piece of black trim is added to cover the four rows of stitching. This extra piece of black trim is sewn with 3 linear stitches to give the product a total of 7 seams! These toys are machine washable (air dry) and float.
From the manufacturer
All toys are not created equal… that is why we created the Tuffscale. The Tuffscale is designed to give you insight on how tuff the toy you’re buying compares against another. Some dogs are aggressive and can only have the tuffest toys ranked 8 and above. Other dogs may not be as aggressive or may be older and behave better with their toys. If this sounds like your dog, you can consider toys ranked 5 and above.
How Are They Made?
Tuffy toys can have up to 4 layers of material depending on the shape, size and style of the toy and up to 7 rows of stitching. Our Ultimate series (depicted here) can have up to 2 layers of Luggage grade material. Certain layers of material are coated with a layer of plastic to hold the material fibers together. Finally, we use soft fleece for the outside layer. All layers are sewn together multiple times for extra durability.
Squeaker Safety Pockets
Squeakers are sewn into material pockets inside the toy. This additional layer of safety can give you the time you need to safely remove the toy in the event your dog reaches the core of the toy. Please be a responsible dog owner and only allow your dog to play with the toy under supervision. Do not allow your pet to ingest any portion of the toy.
Tuffy toys include an additional black webbing around the outside edge, which covers and protects the seams. This binding makes our toys extra durable. Our Tuffy toys float in water and are machine washable (air dry). Our toys are built to last, but keep in mind that no toy is 'indestructible'. Tuffy toys are designed to be used for interactive play and are not chew toys.

To start, this toy is the perfect size for either the pug or the bulldog, and they both loved it. It is well made, and feels pretty durable. The pug, who likes to play tug-o-war, was easily able to grip it by one of it's legs whil I held it's head (the toy's not the dog's).
Unfortunately, the bulldog had it for around half an hour and was able to chew most of the frog's lower jaw off. This then led to stuffing being pulled out. On the plus side, there's a lot of stuffing in this thing. Even though the dog's pulled out a bunch, the toy is still solid.
I'll keep it in it's current state, but only let the dog's have it if I'm around.
Might be good for a dog that just carries their toys around and is not prone to chewing them, (or for an animal shelter or kennel where the stuffies go through tons of washes) but I won't be spending any more money on the Tuffy toys.

That being said, some Tuffy toys seem to last longer than others with the two dogs, and this one has been pretty good! We've had it for a few weeks now, and it's just now starting to show some white (stuffing) where their teeth have pierced the top of the toy.
That's pretty good, considering they play tug of war with it and can tear into toys pretty hard. If it were just our one dog, I think it would last a lot longer because it's the tug of war between the two of them that does them in faster.
Even so, when they do manage to tear the fabric in vulnerable places, I just pull the stuffing out from that area, and they continue to play with it, sometimes for months!
This one is better than some other Tuffy toys too because it has lots of areas where there is already more fabric and reinforced seams than stuffing, like all the legs on the side, the tail, and even the pincers. So far, they haven't been able to tear into those at all. Just a bit on the top of the head, and so far, no stuffing coming out yet.
This one is a big win for us! When they finally do do it in, I will turn around and buy another Scorch the Scorpion right away!
