Be aware: good as cards are not recommended for this product as they don’t work with the quality of the hardware.

In short, you are required to use very specific SD cards. I used four 256GB Samsung Evo Plus cards, a really good sd card, and all four dashcams stopped working because of these sd cards (or so I was told). I contacted Viofo and they recommended a few sd cards that weren’t horrible, but definitely not as good as the ones I was using before. The ones they listed are also no where to be found on the product page. why... why was this not highlighted in pictures of the product or somewhere else obvious?

So basically I have four 256GB SD cards that I can't return, so there goes $171.08 (including taxes) on those, and now I need to buy four more SD cards. Granted, the customer service rep for Viofo did offer me a discount on some of their SD cards, as well as a free card (first was 64gb then they offered me a 128gb), but that's still smaller size and more money in their pocket... because of the fact the didn't even try to make it clear and obvious what SD cards should be used, the last place I'd want to buy from is Viofo. Honestly frustrating that they left out a critical piece of information like this... thanks for making me waste my money on four sd cards...

That being said, the GPS never works and causes an annoying loud beep every few seconds. However, the quality of the videos recorded when it works is great. The wire you get with this product is long so it makes it easy to hide the camera. All in all, I do like the camera and I am going to go buy some SD cards, just really pissed at why I have to waste more of my money because of a lack of description from this product.

All in all: I do recommend this camera, as annoyed as I am, just don't use the GPS module and request a copy of their picture for what SD cards they recommend before you buy this. I'm not adding it because I don't want my review to be removed. Basically you have to buy VERY specific sd cards or it’ll stop recording and you can’t fix it. So you REALLY need to ask for the cards they recommend or this camera will become useless within a week if you get one of the MANY they don’t recommend (it’s like 12 they don’t recommend and 3 they do, 1 of which was their brand).

Installation is easy and pretty intuitive. Cable provided is pretty long and could reach the power outlet from any point on the windshield. Electrostatic pad provided is very useful, just do not forget to clean the windshield before!

The camera can be used in different cars because a few bases are included. The main car can have a GPS module. Minor cons is the power connector on the GPS module is located on its top so you could not mount your camera as close to the edge of the windshield as you probably want. The connector on camera itself is on its side so you can have it close to the car silent if used w/o GPS module.

Image quality is pretty good but you could not read the license plates while moving. I set max resolution possible for 60fps. The day picture was taken at high speed - the license plate could be suggested only. However, the picture is pretty clear, no significant distortions. The night picture is a bit disappointing - there are lot of artifacts related to strong light sources (traffic lights). The car on the right passes fast, and its license plate is not readable. Sensitivity of the microphone is good but it is too sensitive to the noise coming from the car. The short video is to show that noise from tires when crossing the lines dominates.

Bottom line: this dash camera definitely a good deal for the money asked. Easy to install, easy to use, image quality is decent. I would recommend it.
