Saffron Sawyer is on her own. She’s no longer part of the Office of Faery Godmothers - in fact, she’s no longer part of anything, even if her magic is stronger now than she could have ever dreamed possible. Thwarted at every turn and stalked by monsters in the streets, her life feels like it's falling apart.
But Saffron isn’t going to give up hope. She’s sworn revenge on the Director and she can’t forget about Jasper and the way he makes her feel. And when some familiar faces come knocking at her door, she might just have found the answers she’s been looking for.
Best Wishes is the fourth and final book in the refreshingly original series How To Be The Best Damn Faery Godmother In The World (Or Die Trying).

About the author

After teaching English literature in the UK, Japan and Malaysia, Helen Harper left behind the world of education following the worldwide success of her Blood Destiny series of books. She is a professional member of the Alliance of Independent Authors and writes full time, thanking her lucky stars every day that's she lucky enough to do so!
Helen has always been a book lover, devouring science fiction and fantasy tales when she was a child growing up in Scotland.
She currently lives in Edinburgh with far too many cats – not to mention the dragons, fairies, demons, wizards and vampires that seem to keep appearing from nowhere.

Once I started reading this, I didn't want to put it down - even going so far as to read the tiny text on my phone whilst travelling on bumpy trains and tubes!
Saffron, with the help of her mixed and unexpected group of friends -faery, human, troll and furry - are hoping to bring the director of faery godmothers to justice once and for all. However, Saffron still has bills to pay and so needs a job, which proves more difficult as it seems some fingers can get into many pots and stir trouble for the unemployed faery making it harder to gain employment than she first imagined.
Despite all this, Saffron still believes she should help humans to the best of her ability whether this is the lonely old man in the supermarket or her 'lovely' new neighbour Ben.
We must not forget either that their is still a war to prevent between the faery godmothers and the trolls, which by staying in touch with troll leader Ethan, Saffron is hoping to achieve. Can Saffron manage this, or will Ethan decide to act upon his ingrained, and possibly justified, hate and mistrust of all things faery and take matters into his own hands?
All this she is doing whilst trying to keep the man she loves - Devil's Advocate Jasper - safe and alive, whilst still pretending she has no feelings for him. Will she succeed in keeping him safe and still gainfully employed? Will Jasper ever realise Saffron still loves him, so they can live happily ever after, as faery godmothers wish upon their clients? Only time - and chapters will tell!
Helen's writing is sophisticated and grown-up but not demeaning or condescending towards the reader and it improves the story telling.
Although I have happily given 5 stars, I really can't overlook the lack of solid editing and the fact that more than a couple of mistyped words still make it through to the production and selling phase. I have to believe that all writers not only strive to write to the best of their ability, but want their work edited to the same standard. It is a shame when so many mistakes make it through as it does interrupt the reader's flow as they have to work out the mistake and correct it themselves before continuing with the story. This does annoy and disappoint me.
Hopefully Ms. Harper or someone close to her reads these reviews and work will be made to ensure these mistakes (which are consistent throughout all her books - I have read them all except Eros which is next - so I have first-hand knowledge of them) are not made again or I should say will be picked up on before publication and be corrected prior to reaching the reader.
Finally I would like to thank Helen Harper for her imagination and time and I look forward to future -and better edited - works 😀
