It All Started With an Aluminum Lawn Chair...

In 1979, Grammy Award-winning musician and instrument designer Garry Kvistad created the first Woodstock Chime from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. Fascinated by the Scale of Olympos, a 7th century pentatonic scale that can’t be played on a modern piano, Garry cut and tuned the lawn chair tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The resulting Chimes of Olympos was the first Woodstock Chime and is still one of their more popular musically-tuned windchimes.

The media could not be loaded.

The bell tone lasts a lot longer than expected. I'm using for meditation, so I like that feature. My only complaint in that the mallet is plastic, so when initially struck, there is a harsh tone. I have a rubber mallet that I prefer to use. The video is with the plastic mallet.

This product is exactly what they've advertised. It is a single chime that has a very well defined tone when struck cleanly by the included mallet. The string holding the metal cylinder to the block is very thin and may have trouble lasting over time, however, it works exactly as promised and feels good quality. The mallet is a fair bit cheaper than other mallets I've seen (even compared to the chime that sparked my interest in purchasing this one). But, aside from probably costing more money, that is the only two things that could be improved. Nicer mallet and better/stronger string to hold in place.

It sounds like less calming or chime like and more like chunky metal hitting it with a thick high heel or just a thick item hitting chunky metal, is not pleasant in sound to me. It's just cute to look but that is not what I bought it for so purpose is defeated. I presume Musicians will have a more delicate hand and and patience to get the right sound required but a regular Joe won't.

I bought the Solo Zenergy Chime to use when space clearing. The item itself and the striker are well made but the chime is not positioned centrally and at one end it has shifted to one side. I have tried to reposition it but as the thread is glued on at the back, I'm not able to pull much in case the thread comes away completely and the chime is dislodged. As the symmetry of the item is off now, I'm unlikely to use it so disappointed about this.
