About the Author

TAMMI SAUER is a full-time children's book author who presents at schools and conferences across the nation. She is the author of numerous picture books, including Wordy Birdy, Cowboy Camp, Chicken Dance, Nugget & Fang, and Mary Had a Little Glam. In addition to winning awards, Tammi's books have gone on to do great things: Chicken Dance: The Musical is currently on a national tour, and Your Alien, an NPR Best Book of 2015, has been published in Italian, Spanish, Korean, and French. Tammi Sauer is a full-time picture book author who has visited hundreds of schools and spoken at various conferences across the nation. To date, Tammi has sold 30 picture books to major publishing houses (Bloomsbury, Disney*Hyperion, HarperCollins, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Penguin Random House, Scholastic, Simon & Schuster, and Sterling).

For a solid week we read this at bedtime. Then back to the original Wordy Birdy. Then a week of alternating, then a week of "PLEASE PICK ANY BOOK BUT WORDY BIRDY!" But, as much as it can get old reading the same book over and over, that's how you know a book is good...it resonates with your child and they can't get enough. We love WB in this house, even if Mama sometimes needs a break.

I bought this book my 4yr old kindergarten class. They loved the story, but the authors intent was a little vague. I one of my students said the story was about talking all the time, but he wasn't sure if talking was a good thing or a bad thing.
