This is a bit small for a full grown syrian hamster. An 8 inch or larger wheel is best. Although larger wheels are harder to fit in the cage.

The wheel should be large enough so that when your hamster is running, their back is not curving. It's good size for a dwarf hamster but I think too small for a syrian.

I would avoid purchasing this wheel if your hamster is very active. I've purchased 6 of these wheels varying from small to large and they all snap at the back where they connect to the cage
